Hey Future RN's & LPN's,
I haven't seen a group established for us!!! I wish everyone much success on their exam! For me I will be taking it for a 2nd time!! Please leave prayers, advice and words of encouragement to everyone in this group!:heartbeat
you will pass, i took the most controversy exam june 2006 , but i failed good karma bec. they took again exam foe those who pass and had many problems so i know there is a reason for everything and im lucky even though i dont pass first time, and i dont want to have the ... ...stigmatism. and i took again dec 2006, so nervous bec first batch after they change everything , and thank God i pass, and now Nclex first time praying PVT works, goodluck to all, if you are tired take a rest and come back studying if your ok.
I am done studying for the day!!! One more study day!!! Thank God! I am so sick of this.
Same here. I am SO ready to put all of this studying behind me. I was never really fond of studying, even in nursing school. I'd just browse my notes and then take my exams (which I did okay in, surprisingly, haha). I've never studied or prepared for any exam so hard in my life, until the NCLEX came along.:chuckle
Anyway, good luck to you, Susanne! We'll be taking the NCLEX on the same day!
Aleena, I so envy you right now. I hope I'll be like you in a few days. LOL. Hope the PVT works for me, too.
Oh that is great Torquois that we take it the same day. I take it in the morning at ten, but I will not be able to get back until late that afternoon or evening to let you all know. I am leaving tomorrow afternoon to drive there (ts a two hour drive) and stay the night there. Yeahhh this is my last study day!!!
micrograms/kilogram/minute (mcg/kg/min)
your patient's blood pressure has been unacceptably low (70's/40's). he is receiving dopamine 800 mg/d5w 250 ml at a rate of 5 ml/hr. you have increased the dopamine to 12 ml/hr and need to talk to the physician. in order to discuss the dopamine, you need to know the dose the patient is receiving. (note: weight is 70 kg. and you will need conversion from hours to minutes.)
1. you will need to figure out the concentration and you need to convert because we need (mcg/kg/min) so the first equation is:
800 mg converted to mcg = 800 000 mcg
800 000 mcg/ 250 ml= 3200 mcg/ 1 ml
than we have to use the 12 ml and find out how much would be infusing in 1 min:
12 ml / 60 min = 0.2 ml / 1ml
then we multiply the 0.2 ml with the 3200 mcg = 640 mcg / ml
then we divide the 70 kg; 640 mcg / 70 kg = 9.14 mcg/kg/min
the answer is= 9.14mcg/kg/min
you can also set the problem up differently by :
800 000 mcg 12 ml 1hr 1
250 ml x 1 hr x 60 min x 70kg
