Hi! Who is applying to Weatherford for the spring 2011 semester?
I took the TEAS yesterday and didn't do as well as I was hoping. I am going to retake it and hopefully then I will have 18 or 19 points. It seems that the point system has changed and is only 23 possible points now, rather than 26.
I really don't know if 18 or 19 will be enough, but I haven't completed Micro so that is going to hurt me. I figure it is worth a try though! You can't win if you don't play! lol.
So who else is applying? How many points does everyone have?
Just re-joining the post. I was on the alternate list last time with Dreamer. I was on the alternate list again this time and received a call that I got into the adn program at Weatherford. So excited and can't wait to start. Sherri I really hope you get the call. I know what its like to be waiting on the alternate list, not fun. See you all at Orientation!
Congrats!!
Sherri...I bet you are the same Sherri from my A&P class, Dr Gunter? If so, It's Shannon, I'm not on facebook anymore. But I did finally get off the LVN alternate list, I'm in!! I went in last week to give Karen more of my paperwork and she said my name looked familiar, 2-3 girls files' were on her desk that had gotten in the LVN program but got in the RN program too so they were taking the RN spots, dropping the LVN spot. She was going to call me next, I wasn't the 1st alternate but she said I was in the top few. She printed my acceptance letter right then and I accepted. I know you will get your call too, I don't think I would have known that day had I not gone in because she is swamped. Good Luck! Still crossing my fingers for you!!!
I have heard that Weatherford does a preceptorship (like an internship I think) where you will work at a hospital our last semester. If they like you, they are very likely to hire you. I spoke with a lady at Mineral Wells hospital and she said that she has been very pleased with WC nurses and that they are very high on her list of schools she hires from.I felt the same way you did at first, that I would for sure pick TSU and WC would be my backup. But it turn out that way after I started researching the schools and such. If you are not happy with having only an ADN, you can do a bridge program. Since you have all the prereqs that TSU required, you should be able to do one completely online and it takes a year. Many reputible universities, such as Texas Tech and several of the UT's & A&M's offer them are they are completely online.
Good Luck with making your decision!!!
I happened to take my CPR class at WC with 2 girls that had literally just finished the RN program and taken their NCLEX boards that day, They were talking about the preceptorship and gave me the advice to learn as much as you can about that and to apply early. By spring break most of the spots were filled. Just thought I would pass that along! :)
YAY Shannon! I had noticed you were no longer on FB, I was wanting to let you know what little I knew. HaHa! I am so glad you found me here and I am sooo sooo soooo freaking excited you got into the LVN program!! I knew you would!! Now, just pray for ME please. HAHAHA!
Oh, and it also shows that 2-3 more people moved off the alternate list than I knew about! I'm getting CLOSER!!
someday:-)
