Weatherford College Spring 2011 applicants

Published

Hi! Who is applying to Weatherford for the spring 2011 semester?

I took the TEAS yesterday and didn't do as well as I was hoping. I am going to retake it and hopefully then I will have 18 or 19 points. It seems that the point system has changed and is only 23 possible points now, rather than 26.

I really don't know if 18 or 19 will be enough, but I haven't completed Micro so that is going to hurt me. I figure it is worth a try though! You can't win if you don't play! lol.

So who else is applying? How many points does everyone have?

The Dreamer...I know what you mean about trying to decide what school to go to. I applied to Tarleton as well, and have a very good chance of getting it with my scores and grades. I really didn't think I would get into the Weatherford Program (I'm not real sure why) and was surprised and very excited when I got my packet in the mail. But then I started trying to think about which school to go to and am afraid of making the wrong choice. However, after talking to several people, including a lady at Mineral Wells hospital that deals with WC students a lot, I decided that WC was the better choice for me than Tarleton. I even did the thing about writing the schools down, shaking them up and drawing one lol (which were WC both times I did it lol). Maybe you could try to write the pros and cons for each one on a piece of paper so you can see it instead of visualizing it in your head, and maybe that would help some. Good luck making a decision, cause I know its a tough one.

I am trying to figure out which school I want to attend as well. I really want to go to WC, but TCC is closer and less expensive. I guess I will just burn that bridge when I get there. I don't know that I would even get accepted. I think with the distance though, it would be the best decision for me to choose TCC.

Mommap-The TEAS scores are broken down, and that is where you get your points from. Like if you make a 90-100 on a section such as science, you will get 3 points, if you make a B on that section, you will get 2 points, and a C will give you 1 point. It works that way for all 4 sections to total 12 points. You will also get your average or all the sections. I made an 85 or 86 on the TEAS, and got 9 points for the sections. Hope that helps.

I actually thought about deciding between the two schools by which color of scrubs I like best. lol. Not really, but it did cross my mind.

mommap,

For the "points" everyone talks about, they seperate out the sections and you get so many points for your grade in each section.

That is where they get the 16, 17, 18 etc...

For the second grouping, they go to the over all TEAS score. So there may be three persons with 21 over all points. And you may have 1 with an 88 TEAS, 1 with an 84 TEAS, and 1 with a 77 TEAS.

Did that make sense?

Dreamer,

You know, it is so strange that EVERYONE ended up going to the spring classes. I wonder how many times that has happened???

I'm not too bummed over going through all the steps. I figure when Spring comes I'll have it all behind me, if I don't get in this go around. I'll have 18 points then, and since they will only be accepting the version V of the TEAS test at that time I think my chances will be excellent at 18. Even with less spots open.

But for now, my fingers and toes are crossed!

Now THAT is funny!

BTW, what color of scrubs does TCC have?

Specializes in Oncology.

Teal blue bottoms and white tops... not exactly the best color choice in my opinion.

Haha. If I remember correctly they are white tops with some aqua/turquoise colored pants. They may be all white, but it's been a while since I've seen any TCC nursing students.

Well I would dirty up that white REAL FAST I think. lol

I'm sorry if that seemed misleading, I'm not so certain that the original 20 students that were accepted were the final 20... I'm sure there was some movement on the alternate list, just not enough to get me bumped. When I spoke to KL the Friday before classes started, she just said that the current 20 students had all registered and paid for their classes.

Oh I see. Thanks for the clarification Dreamer. :)

Is it correct that WC takes 40 students in the Fall and 20 in the Spring?

Are there any night classes or other classes??

How many does TCC take in Fall and Spring???

Anyone know??

Yes, that is true for WC

There are no other nursing classes.

I believe TCC takes the same amount Fall or Spring.
