Hi! Who is applying to Weatherford for the spring 2011 semester?
I took the TEAS yesterday and didn't do as well as I was hoping. I am going to retake it and hopefully then I will have 18 or 19 points. It seems that the point system has changed and is only 23 possible points now, rather than 26.
I really don't know if 18 or 19 will be enough, but I haven't completed Micro so that is going to hurt me. I figure it is worth a try though! You can't win if you don't play! lol.
So who else is applying? How many points does everyone have?
To apply at TCC do you HAVE to have a CHEM class? I know at WC you can have either ALG or CHEM. To apply for both what first year classes should I have under my belt?
I was planning to take A&P 1,2, Micro, Algebra, (my compass scores will start me in Pre Alg. first), PE, Spanish(my humanitiy/fine art), Eng 1301, PSY intro, and PSY human growth....would those classes be good for both schools, since you girls know so much... Thanks...you are all sooo helpful getting me started!
It is in your best interest to have basics of chemistry down. You will need it for your TEAS test. I took it years ago. I do not know how you can do well on the science portion of the TEAS without understanding the fundamentals of chemistry.
I'm not sure if it is Chem I that is required though. From reading the description it sounds like a chem designed for the nursing program.
Sherri167, I got your PM. I don't have enough posts yet to write back. I was going to tell you that I have 17 points and I have a 78. So, I don't really know where that makes me stand with the competition. Just hoping I made it in! I will keep in touch with you. Still waiting to Tarleton. They e-mail admissions/denial letters. So, it could be any day. The director told me that had pretty much made their list. But, the committee had yet to go over their decisions, that was almost 2 weeks ago. So, hopefully I will hear something soon.

That's the link for the sample schedules for Spring & Fall at WC. KL said that they schedules would be very similar to that when I asked.

I would definitely check out the information available on each school's website:
WC- http://www.wc.edu/programs-of-study/health-professions/nursing/associate-degree-nursing (the links are on the right hand side to give you more information regarding admission requirements, application dates & deadlines, costs, etc).
TCC- http://www.tccd.edu/Courses_and_Programs/Program_Offerings/Nursing/Apply_for_Nursing.html (the current application packet is still up... normally it is taken down after the deadline. I would highly suggest you print this out, it has all of the information you would need concerning TCC's program).
Thanks Sherri167; I didn't know what the cutoff was point wise. If I hear anything I will let you know asap! So, I guess some people might start getting calls after the cutoff for the acceptance letters due date? I read that some people get called all the way up to a few days before classes start. I hope I don't have to wait that long, I will be a nervous wreck!

Yes, that is correct
If you're asking about the Nursing Program specifically, the Spring class at WC is a "night and weekend program". The schedule for this past Spring was:
Monday: 1pm-9pm (Pharmacology & Foundations)
Wednesday: 1pm-5pm (Skills)
Thursday: 1pm-9pm (Assessment & Foundations)
Saturday: Clinical 6:30am-2:30pm
It has been 130 students in the past. This semester they're considering dropping it down to 100, but a final decision has not been made yet.
