Weatherford ADN Fall 2015

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone. Just wanted to start a post for the 2015 Associates degree of Nursing Fall program at Weatherford College and see who else will be applying!

I have 31 points before my TEAS. I probably wont be taking it for a couple more months. I've finished all of my pre and co requisites and have my 15 hours of BSN credits so I'm super excited to finally be able to apply :)

I wonder what the point cut off will be this semester? I'm hoping to get at least 6 points off my TEAS but 8 would be great! Comment if you're applying this upcoming semester! Cant wait!

Huh interesting. I do not see anything in mine, but we just moved and I have to bring in paperwork to change my address to an in-county address so maybe they are waiting on that??? I guess I will find out when I go up there tomorrow. I am getting crazy anxious! It just snuck up on me and hit me today. I hope that the bookstore works on a credit as well. Like I said we are in the middle of moving and the less I have to come out of pocket the better right now.

is the skills pack purchased through the bookstore? can we use our financial aid towards it?

yes skills pack is through the bookstore and they SHOULD have your financial aid in the book store so you can purchase what you need....the skills pack is all of your lab supplies....everything you will need for use in the skills lab and for check offs

Your financial aid will be credited to the bookstore so you can purchase what you need. I don't think it shows anything different online....you can call the bookstore and they can tell you if it has been sent to them though

WC-ADN Fall 2015

@TLizS question regarding laptops/tablets. Since you are going into your second year I was curious how often you or other students actually bring their laptops/tablets to class. I am thinking it might be a little different now that it is mandatory to purchase electronic textbooks but I was just curious. I am more of the old school take notes with paper and pen type :) Thanks!

it varied a lot depending on your note taking style. I have a 10" galaxy tab and a laptop. Most days I threw my tablet in my bag to be able to pull up text books/power points and google things. OCCASIONALLY I would decide to carry my laptop (I HATE carrying it...it makes my bag so heavy and I rarely used it enough to justify the extra weight).

I am a pen and paper note taker so I didn't need the laptop for that. I do like having access to the text books/powerpoints. and there were lots of times I was googling things during lecture...whatever we were talking about because I wanted a little more info. We also did a LOT of group work where we had to look things up....so having access to all of the text books/internet was a plus on those days.

SOOO all that to say....for me hauling the laptop was unnecessary but throwing my much lighter tablet in my bag was well worth it and I used it most days. You can very well get buy not taking anything though (although that may be less true now that you are required to purchase ebooks). On certain days when I KNEW I would be using a certain book I would just haul that book with me because I prefer a paper book to the ebook

Hello all!

I am starting the ADN program this fall and I'm wondering if anyone knows which books are needed for RNSG 1430-Health Care Concepts 1 and RNSG 1216-Professional Nursing Competencies? I'm thinking about buying hard books for these classes since I study better that way. Thanks!:geek:

If they are using the same book set as last semester.....all of your books are tied to the entire program....not a certain book for a specific class.... (if that made any sense at all)

the books I used the MOST last semester were Fundamentals of Nursing (we used this one a TON.....so if I only bought one it would for sure be this one) and essentials of pathophysiology

we also used health assessment in nursing and focus on nursing pharmacology (I think it was called...I don't have it in front of me right now but I can double check the title in a little bit)

but if I was going to buy two to study from it would be the Fundamentals and the patho books....and like I said this was my experience from last semester...not sure if the book bundle is the exact same this semester or not

the books I used the MOST last semester were Fundamentals of Nursing (we used this one a TON.....so if I only bought one it would for sure be this one) and essentials of pathophysiology

Thank you! You answered my question perfectly! What I wanted to know was which books were used the most, so I could just purchase those and not the all of them. Thanks again! :)

I got an email from lippincott (the publisher for the book bundle....assuming your class is using the same book bundle we have) that all of their books are 20% off with this code

WF07LCZZ

just thought I'd share in case someone was wanting to buy physical books and wasn't able to find them used.[/

I have applied to the Spring 16' sempemster

I was trying to look up the spring class schedule but it comes up with no info.

Does anyone know what the spring class schedule is? I heard the classes are held in the evening? Is this accurate?
