    How's the job market '16?

Following......looking to relocate as a new grad (ADN) after the first of the year from Texas. We will either be in the Loveland/Fort COllins area or grand junction/Rifle area....and I will (as long as things progress as planned) have my BSN by the end of the summer....Just looking for somewhere to work as a RN while I complete my BSN. Any suggestions for where to apply in either of those areas with an ADN (and soon to have BSN) would be awesome!

    Eastern Colorado New grad opportunities

I will keep that in mind as I am searching! I have hospital on the brain right now because I am in the middle of the application process for new grad programs here. I will definitely explore my options outside of the hospitals too!

    Eastern Colorado New grad opportunities

thanks for the suggestions!....I have already started that part of the leg work....just curious if anyone had any suggestions of where to look. maybe places I may be overlooking and such
  4. I'm looking for some guidance. I currently live in Texas and will be graduating with my ADN in December. I have already applied to the RN-BSN program that I hope to complete...just waiting to hear if I was accepted. It is looking like there is a good chance that my family will be relocating to Colorado soon (like as soon as I graduate) for my husbands job. I have thoroughly researched TEXAS options for new grads.....because that's where I thought we would be. This opportunity has completely thrown my plans off so I am scrambling to find out everything I can about Colorado opportunities before application periods end and such. Most Texas New grad programs applications are this month for December Graduates. ANYWAY, If anyone can suggest Colorado hospitals to look into that either have a new grad program open to ADN or RN-BSN grads, or that accept ADN new grad applicants I would greatly appreciate it. I am googling and combing all of the websites I can find but I obviously don't know all of the hospitals up there and have found that quite a few want BSN grads only (no RN-BSN accepted.) it's beginning to be a discouraging search.. I know the opportunities are out there just need some suggestions on where to look! **More specifically Denver, boulder, fort collins, greeley, loveland areas......husbands job will be in the loveland area)

It's the, edition behind yall (the one we use) but it's the same text book (the updated edition is what we have access to online....and aside from exact page numbers it's the same) Just thought id let yall know in case someone wanted to get, their hands on a physical copy of that book

they won't have the schedule up for the spring until registration starts for that semester.....I can tell you what our semester looked like for first semester spring 2015 (last semester)....but I think it varies depending on how they have to schedule to get everyone time in the skills labs/etc Tuesday 8-5 wed 8-2 thursday clinical 6:30-2:30 (every other week) friday 8-12 no evening classes.....but like I said it changes from semester to semester depending on how they need to schedule to get everyone the time they need in the labs

I got an email from lippincott (the publisher for the book bundle....assuming your class is using the same book bundle we have) that all of their books are 20% off with this code WF07LCZZ just thought I'd share in case someone was wanting to buy physical books and wasn't able to find them used.[/

If they are using the same book set as last semester.....all of your books are tied to the entire program....not a certain book for a specific class.... (if that made any sense at all) the books I used the MOST last semester were Fundamentals of Nursing (we used this one a TON.....so if I only bought one it would for sure be this one) and essentials of pathophysiology we also used health assessment in nursing and focus on nursing pharmacology (I think it was called...I don't have it in front of me right now but I can double check the title in a little bit) but if I was going to buy two to study from it would be the Fundamentals and the patho books....and like I said this was my experience from last semester...not sure if the book bundle is the exact same this semester or not

it varied a lot depending on your note taking style. I have a 10" galaxy tab and a laptop. Most days I threw my tablet in my bag to be able to pull up text books/power points and google things. OCCASIONALLY I would decide to carry my laptop (I HATE carrying it...it makes my bag so heavy and I rarely used it enough to justify the extra weight). I am a pen and paper note taker so I didn't need the laptop for that. I do like having access to the text books/powerpoints. and there were lots of times I was googling things during lecture...whatever we were talking about because I wanted a little more info. We also did a LOT of group work where we had to look things up....so having access to all of the text books/internet was a plus on those days. SOOO all that to say....for me hauling the laptop was unnecessary but throwing my much lighter tablet in my bag was well worth it and I used it most days. You can very well get buy not taking anything though (although that may be less true now that you are required to purchase ebooks). On certain days when I KNEW I would be using a certain book I would just haul that book with me because I prefer a paper book to the ebook

Your financial aid will be credited to the bookstore so you can purchase what you need. I don't think it shows anything different online....you can call the bookstore and they can tell you if it has been sent to them though

yes skills pack is through the bookstore and they SHOULD have your financial aid in the book store so you can purchase what you need....the skills pack is all of your lab supplies....everything you will need for use in the skills lab and for check offs

    Best planner for nursing school?

For one that can be bought at the store...I use this one Amazon.com : AT-A-GLANCE Weekly / Monthly Planner / Appointment Book, Branches and Blooms Design, Academic Year, 13 Months, July 2015-July 2016 (547-905A) : Office Products it has the hour by hour set up but I don't use the hours....I use the individual boxes for different tasks/assignments/things I need to remember on any particular day.....it's the best set up I have found for me....I am THINKING about springing for the erin condren but I'm not 100% I'm gunna love the layout THe ONLY thing I don't like about this one is that it doesn't run with the academic year....it runs with the calendar year....and I REALLY like to start the school year with a clean fresh planner.....so it's not a HUGE deal....just a personal preference that bugs me a little

Should I wait to have a baby?

I agree that if a family is what you TRULY want....you shouldn't put it off too long. we are in the process of trying to figure out when to start trying for our 3rd baby. I just turned 30....I have 3 semesters left of the ADN program. I intend to go straight into a BSN program (online) *hopefully* pretty quickly after I graduate. I think that you CAN have it all....it won't be easy.....but if you are committed and have a good support system it's doable. Also....a first baby is a BIG adjustment.....it turns your life upside down for awhile....so if you can time it th where you would give birth during a break that would be ideal. For me the second baby was not a big change....we took it slow for a couple weeks but were back to normal life in no time....because having a toddler just didn't give me any downtime. I think our plan is to start trying during my last semester....hopefully I will be able to get pregnant within the first few months trying and give birth a little bit after graduation. I will be able to work on my BSN while on maternity leave. Depending on the timeline of when I got pregnant/graduated I don't know whether I will apply for nursing jobs @graduation or wait until after baby is born. I work as a PCT now and will hopefully be able to work throughout the pregnancy. There are a LOT of what ifs......but you can't let what ifs rule your life....just make sure you are covered with your nursing program (can withdraw for a semester and come back or whatever) in case there are complications. I am a firm believer that there is not perfect timing for getting pregnant....there are always going to be complications, reasons to wait, whatever.....so you just have to go for it and work out whatever comes along

they do give you a credit you can use in their book store before the semester begins so you can buy books and things that you need....I miss getting it before the semester began (thats how TCC did it when I went there) so much nicer to have the money to do what you needed before school started

in ours last semester you had a BP cuff and all of your supplies for skills labs (ng tubes, catheters, iv start kits, trach care kits....etc....) no scissors or pen light. who knows what may have changed since last semester though You will for sure need a pen light and some bandage scissors for clinicals (although I never used my scissors for anything except cutting paper the first semester lol.....I am sure they will come in handy much more this semester).......My biggest suggestion....buy a planner....A GOOD ONE with lots of room to write....(If you're like me anyway) there is a lot to remember....what to read/assignments/exams (and everything else in life.....I have 2 kids so I have to write down EVERYBODY's schedules or I lose my mind lol)....that is the one thing that I definitely use EVERY day
