Hi everyone. Just wanted to start a post for the 2015 Associates degree of Nursing Fall program at Weatherford College and see who else will be applying!
I have 31 points before my TEAS. I probably wont be taking it for a couple more months. I've finished all of my pre and co requisites and have my 15 hours of BSN credits so I'm super excited to finally be able to apply :)
I wonder what the point cut off will be this semester? I'm hoping to get at least 6 points off my TEAS but 8 would be great! Comment if you're applying this upcoming semester! Cant wait!
35 was the cutoff for WC last semester and 32 for wcwc. I'd be surprised if it's not lower this semester though, considering the point system change...
I agree with you since it seems like everyone is sitting roughly 3 points lower with the new point system, but we will see... It's going to be a long several weeks of waiting to find out that is for sure!
I'm currently a first semester ADN student @wc....just wanted to clarify about the books (so yall can be prepared) You can't buy them used....we get a discounted bundle price from the publisher that includes all of the online accesses you need soooo buying used isn't an option....that was the first thing I asked KLI think it was around $1200 through the publisher and 13 something though the bookstore + your skills pack which was around $200....
also all of our vaccinations and stuff had to be completed by a couple weeks before classes (before orientation was preferred) and instructions on completing all of that was included with our acceptance letters
anyway just thought I'd clear up some of the questions cus I remember the waiting game and unanswered questions and it was not fun lol
TlizS,
I was reading some previous threads for Weatherfords ADN program, and someone had mentioned two math tests that we are required to take an pass.. Could you give me some details about that? Math is not my forte, it makes me very anxious and I want to start preparing as soon as possible!

we haven't taken it yet...I think we take it mid April so don't freak out thinking you will be taking it your first week......I do think that in later semesters you take it at the very beginning of the semester but that is once you have a grasp on what you are doing (I think we only have one dosage calc math test....I'll have to look at my planner and be sure though...not sure what the second one they are referring to is) but it's just Basic Dosage calculations....know your conversions (grams -> mg....etc) if you know those it's super easy...that is seriously the hardest part.
DosageHelp.com - Helping Nursing Students Learn Dosage Calculations is a great source for practice problems....youtube videos explain the methods well
I prefer the ratio/proportion method or or the formula method....dimensional analysis gets me mixed up sometimes (probably because I've never taken the time to really figure it out)....I am NOT a math person AT ALL so trust me when I say it's easy.....but like I said if you want to get a headstart on practicing dosagehelp.com is a good source (I think there are several similar websites that will give you practice problems too....if you search here on alllnurses I'm sure there are threads that will give you think links)
They're like 4 days a week, like 9-12 I think. Plus whatever days that labs work. I think registration started today... not 100% sure!
EDIT: Registration did not start today.. I swear I saw a post saying that registration started today but I was wrong. Sorry! It should start here very soon though! Keep an eye out!

Thank you so much! That doesn't sound TOO bad!

How do people work over summer terms? Any suggestions? I guess you would have to work half days the four days you attend classes and maybe a full day the day you don't have classes? Lol ugh I'm so OCD can't stop worrying about how I'm going to make this work
Let the 6-8 weeks begin! I had to restrain myself from emailing the Nursing Director to ask if she had any news on point cut offs and the date that the letters would be sent out!!! I'm already going crazy! But if anyone hears anything then please comment and share!
Here is something that I am a little worried about... Does anyone have any input? I applied with 34 points. The director said that that was competitive and that she thinks I will get into my first choice (Weatherford campus), but I went ahead and applied to WCWC as well. Now I wish that I hadn't because I don't think I will be able to manage that if I were to get accepted into WCWC. My daughter will be starting PreK this August, here in Weatherford, and my babysitter for my younger child (who will start prek in weatherford next year) lives two one minute away from the college/hospital. So now Im wondering if I should ask the director to take my name off of the WCWC list so that even if I don't get accepted to the weatherford college campus, I will at least have a shot at being an alternate. I don't even know if I would accept the WCWC position if I were to be accepted there... Any advice?!? I don't even know if I can ask her to do that at this point, now Im kind of just wishing that I hadn't applied to both campuses! Uggh!
