Hi Everyone - this is my first post and my first dumb question - but I'm sure there will be many more to come! :)
Anyway, I am starting an ASN program in the fall (Thomas Jefferson University) and I know it's a long way off, but do nursing students wear scrubs to regular class every day? There is a school by my house and I ALWAYS see nursing students in scrubs even though they are in class and not clinicals.
I will be working all summer so I want to get as many things together before the fall, including clothes shopping.
Thanks in advance :)

The only people in my nursing classes that wear scrubs in school are those that work after class. You don't have to wear scrubs as a rule of thumb, at least in the program I'm in.
Congrats on your admission to nursing school. It is a crazy and exciting time. Enjoy your summer!

Only time i ever have was when I wore my scrubs after clinical and was immediately chewed out by my professors. If its a lecture day no way. I wear scrubs enough at work and clinical. Its nice to wear normal clothes sometimes.

No, you do not wear scrubs to clinicals in most schools. Here I do see the Lincln Tech people in scrubs each day, but not at my community collee. We only wear them to clinicals and it is a very specific uniform.

We only wear them to clinicals, but we did wear them in the lab. We had lab a lot first semester, so we were often in them during school because we were supposed to dress for the lab like we would dress for the hospital.

We don't wear scrubs for anything other than clinicals, and when we have to do a video skill check-off.

You might want to wait until your school indicates the preferred uniform, footwear and supplies to go shopping. I was surprised to find out how specific my school was and gladly didn't waste any money on inappropriate items.
Thatguy is right; the people you see in scrubs may be coming from or later going to work at a hospital or facility.
We only wear our uniforms to clinicals, and regular clothes to demo and lecture.
Congratulations on being accepted and enjoy this time until school begins!

We would be written up for wearing our scrubs when not working.

I wear scrubs only because I'm leaving work and going STRAIGHt to class after work, so I have no choice. However, when I'm not at work I try to never wear them scrubs. I so miss regular cute colthes. Although I have to admit in this cold weather I'm way more comfortable in scrubs. Its like wearing big, comfy pajamas everyday.

We also only wear scrubs if we are going to work after class or on clinical days. It's nice to actually wear blue jeans every once in awhile.

We have to wear ours to lab and clinicals, but not to lecture or pharm.
