Hi! I just purchased a pair of Dansko professional shoes. I was really expecting to put them on and say "ahhhhhh". However, they don't seem that comfy to me. The right shoe seems a little too tight. I guess my question is whether or not the leather stretches to a more comfortable fit after they're broken in a bit.
Thanks!!!

I have worn mine for over 5 years only had to have th eheal re-built. I can't say that mine have stretched any at all. When I got my second pair (need edblack), the guy @ the store fitted me in a size smaller than the first pair, I choose to stay with the larger size.
I wear mine @ work then, walk about 1.5 - 2 miles in the evening. These have been the only shoes that have helped my PF & shin plints.
I hope you find somthing that works for you!!!!!

When I tried them on they felt very "sloppy" and I asked the salesman about this and he informed me that this was how they are meant to be worn. Possibly you need to go up a size?
I think I may end up trying them out again because I think I'm falling out of love of my Crocs and find myself wearing my running shoes more and more.

I thought the same way as the original poster. But, I wore my MBTs to work and took my new shiny danskos. Half way through shift I switched and thought I could switch back if they hurt. I ended up wearing my danskos home. I found they stretched enough to be comfortable and I like the support they give. I find myself wearing them longer than my MBTs now. Maybe by the third shift of wearing them they were really comfortable. My feet may have hurt a little bit if I wore them the whole time but at least 90% less than in my tennies. My knees have no pain at all. Although I like both and find my feet dont hurt at all if I switched between the two at some point in the shift. I am a large girl too.I was comfortable buying the danskos to try because the store I bought them from gives refunds or credit within 30 days. Mine are black leather so they streched a little across the front.

I also had the same problem with the Professional style, they felt so "sloppy" on my feet. I felt like if I dangled my foot around, the shoe would just simply fall off! Where I purchased my Dansko's, they also had a style called "Pita", just like the Pro, but with a velcro strap over the instep to adjust to your foot. I absolutely love them!

Thanks for your replies. Mine are just a bit too tight over the top of my foot. My left shoe fits perfect. I think I am going to give em a go and hope they stretch a little bit.
My mistake was ordering online instead of going to a store to try them on. So I hate to send them back for a larger size that are too big and have to go through the process all over again.
I know these are supposed to be the best- which is why I got them.

It may have just been the luck of the people I worked with. About 3 years ago the fad ran through my unit and several nurses got them. ALL of them complained about how they hurt their feet, they were reassured by the nurses who had them before that it would get better. The ones with with new Danskos hobbled around for about 2-3 months, literally. The shoes did finally accommodate to their feet and they are still wearing those shoes years later. They really do last.
I however; do not have the patient and endurance to go through the discomfort for weeks or months. Not my style. But I know plenty of people that swear by them.

Also love Born shoes. They break in much faster than Danskos. I wear either Danskos or Borns...wouldn't go back to any other shoes.

My story exactly. I probably needed a size larger, too. I have wide feet. The Danskos do well during the day, but I seem to like my Merrells better. I also tried on a friend's Nursmates and my feet went 'aahhhh'. I may end up selling my Danskos on eBay while they're in good shape ....
