With all the young girls being abducted by sex offenders here latley, my husband wondered how many are around us. This is the results
1. Multiple offender 2 blocks down from my home.
2. Multiple offender next door to my parents (where I grew up and where my kids play outside)
3. Three multiple high risk offenders that live across the street from our intermediate school.
4. Two multiple high risk offenders that live across from the elementary school.
5. A total of 188 REPORTED offenders that are in our city alone, mind you the population is less than 10K.
This is a slap in my face , you think you live in your safe city. No matter the size or population are children are at risk. I have always worried about this kind of thing and been cautious , double checks on the locks ,windows down and locked,shades and blinds closed, well lighted yard. I also sleep in the living room so I can hear all that goes on. I have 4 little girls and any uninvited visitor that comes in better be ready not to leave. I encourage all of you to look and check who your neighbors are. YOU NEVER KNOW!!!!!
I looked at the sex offender database and I think the dept of public saftey

You can do a Google for Megan's Law... (thanx, Steph!) :)
From there you can find links to your state, etc. I was taken to my State Police site, and found the link to registered sex offenders there.
Yep.. like roaches, Deb, is right ! Small town of 7K and scads of them registered. One at the end of my street, one around the corner down another.
Not all are necessarily child predators, but a handful was. Regardless, they all give me the willies ! :uhoh21: :angryfire
Most of these direct links will give you the name, age, most recent photograph, addresse,... and criminal history.

One thing to keep in mind: if it doesn't list their offense, don't assume they are child molesters. A large portion of these registered sex offenders were boys who had sex with girl/girls in their teen years, parents pressed charges and now they must file forever as a registered sex offender. I think they really ought to differentiate between that type of offense and someone who seeks out children for deviant acts or a rapist.
That being said, it's still a good idea and lets your know who your neighbors are, you know? I wish our state would get on the ball...we have a webpage, but for some reason, are unable to utilize it to find out anything from it. If anyone has any advice for finding registered sex offenders in Nevada, please let me know. My husband is unfortunate enough to work around all of them (he a Correctional Officer in the prison in our town) and sees them occasionally after they are paroled. So at least I know of some of them by face and name.
Melanie = )
The state of Texas makes known the offense, date occurred , how old the victim is , whether the risk is high ,moderate or low, address DOB, physical description , how many years they got in prision (if any) and what their criminal status is now. And also whether it was aggrivated ,rape or whatever. This information is considered public records. To me if they are in this database they are the enemy, regardless!!!!

Yeh.. same here in Va.
All the info is given.. court and convivtion dates.. the whole nine yards. Also just waht the type of sexual crime it was, so it states right there .. rape... sexual battery.. aggrivated sexual assault.. or "taking indecent liberties with a child". So you pretty much get the idea of what crimes this person has committed.
