OK, we got in, but now what? I am a detail orientated person and I want info! When can I start picking up things I need? What are those items?
I have really lost it! I went from thinking about getting in to wondering what to do/what to read/what to buy before class starts.
And how big of a backpack do we REALLY need?
Anybody out there from CLC have any advice? Help me before my family moves out of the house permanently (wait...maybe that would be a good thing:devil:)!
i called my local fire department a while ago and my cpr class is next week. i had stopped into the nursing office and spoke w/the director. she said it is the same cpr that clc offers. they have a paramedic from grayslake fire dept to give it - it, too, is the american heart association bls for healthcare providers. perhaps you could call your local fire dept and schedule a class close to home, too.
Ok, what is this patch you speak of??? Now, we need to get a certain color scrub top, right? The Blue or something? I assume if I go to this store they will know what I need? But I should be able to get my bottoms from Walmart or something, right? Do I need to buy multiple pairs of this stuff??? Man...I tell ya...orientation can't come soon enough!!!
I was at the health center on Thursday, got my Hep B shot (first one) and then I ended up checking with my insurance about the titres and I think it would save me to have them done through the insurance...also, they will cover 100% of my hep shot (even though they told me no before), so for the remainder, I think I will go to my docs office. The rest, not sure what I'm doing...it's very confusing to say the least figuring out if I should got the the health center or through my insurance...would be less of a hassle to go to the health center...we'll see!!! I go back on Monday to get my TB done.

when you walk into the store just tell them you need the clc shirt and patch...they'll know. i got 2 pairs of white scrubs at jc penney outlet. you only go once a week so you're safe w/ the 2 (unless you run behind on laundry). but call them first to see if they have your size.
OK Ladies...here goes!! The uniform shirt is not available at Life Uniform. I called them and they had no clue what I was talking about. Tri-County DOES have them. They are dark blue and the patch is already on the shirt. The prices were from $22.95 to $24.95 (I think). They had about 15 or so hanging up. I picked mine up today. It is totally UGLY!! As I was trying it on the lunch lady popped into my head. On the other hand, my hubby said it slimmed my hips. So I guess it's not all bad. Even though I got mine, I would still be up for lunch. Or maybe even that Mai Tai some evening.
As far as scrub bottoms, I heard that the cargo type were the best cuz of the extra pockets. Maybe someone else can confirm this.
Colleen - I am in the same boat as you. I figured to get my A in A&P, I needed a 94.66 average on Friday and Mondays test. I don't think I did horrible on this last one, but not a 94. The good news is that as long as I average a 56% on these two tests - I get a B. So, although I am stugying, I am not stressing.
Thanks, I don't know what I would do without you, already ( and we haven't even started the hard stuff yet) Gulp! I will check those numbers. Colleen, what class are you in? I will be signing up soon as possible.
Diedre, you got the shirt at Tri-county? Really ugly? What kind of top is it, do we wear shirts under it or is it a scrub type top?
Heather, I'm in 6794. Saturday 1/12 from 8am-1pm. Sign up NOW - looks like there's only one spot left!!! Also, you mentioned your hubby bought you a backpack - which one did you go with?
I'll have to check out that uniform store within Gurnee Mills to see if I can score some tall pants. Like I said, the JCPenny ones worked, but they are JUST long enough. Why oh why do they have to be WHITE pants?!? Don't they know that white pants are NOT flattering unless you happen to be really skinny?!?
When I worked at Highland Park Hospital last spring I would occasionally run into CLC students on the floors while I was doing my phlebotomy rounds. I'm not sure what year the students were, but I seem to remember a navy blue smock type top. Is that what it looks like Diedra?
Okay ladies,
Have you packed away all your blue pens? I'm unloadin' my pencil bag today. I kind of feel lost, not having anything I should be reading right now. I'm waiting for a book from the library, it's the one someone suggested-Drugs calcs. made easy.
I had plans today, my first day with no studying, no one is supposed to be here, DH got called for work early, got excited to have a "free day" and the kids all have a snow/ice day. I feel like I'm going thru some kind of nesting thing, but, it has to do with getting set up for Jan. I have been trying to get more organized, menu plans, photos, paperwork, etc. and I really need to do this before classes start. It all just clutters my mind. Are any of you having these anxious type feelings now?
Vicki

hey vicki, i don't suppose you are waiting on the dosage calculations made incredibly easy from the illinois district public library system? i actually have checked out that book at the zion library (sent over from round lake). i mainly checked it out to see if i should purchase it. the first half of the book is mainly review for fractions and proportions. the 2nd half is calculating dosages. to tell you the truth, i haven't had much time to go through it...i still have one essay to finish, one final and my cpr class on saturday.
in the meantime, enjoy your empty time - you worked hard to get this far! i can hardly wait until i can feel like that, too! maybe by then i can catch up on my household clutter and holiday shopping!
wishing you the best,
:snowman1: boni
Hi again everyone,
I just called to set up the appointment for the physical, I can't get in until the 3rd of Jan. We don't need the Pap do we? I looked up the genitourinary exam on line and it looks more like just a physical exam & I do not see a spot for any Pap results on the green form. I'm just worried that the results won't be back in time- tried to call the school with no answer. I'm getting the "full service" anyway, maybe it doesn't have to be complete(w/ results) til the 23rd.
Any thoughts????? Also, do we need an actual vision/hearing test?
And yes Boni - I am waiting for that book.

I'm taking the CPR class at CLC on the 12th of Jan. Last I looked it wasn't full.
We have our A&P final on Monday also - bright and early! Our last lecture test was Friday. I think I did OK, but not great. I needed to do great on the last test and the final in order to pull off the A I wanted for the class (I needed to score 95 or better on both). The last lecture test was tougher than I thought it would be, so I know I didn't get the 95 I needed. Honestly it has made me feel better though. Because now I know there's no way I'll get the A for the semester, it's taken a lot of the pressure off. And hey, a B in A&P is still pretty awesome I think!!!
