OK, we got in, but now what? I am a detail orientated person and I want info! When can I start picking up things I need? What are those items?
I have really lost it! I went from thinking about getting in to wondering what to do/what to read/what to buy before class starts.
And how big of a backpack do we REALLY need?
Anybody out there from CLC have any advice? Help me before my family moves out of the house permanently (wait...maybe that would be a good thing:devil:)!
i stopped by the nursing office today hoping to get a hint for the nursing bundle and books required....na da..."it'll be given at orientation" and "it wouldn't be fair to let everyone know ahead of time (compare to the rest of clc, i suppose)". however, she did say that the uniforms are available at tri-county uniforms. anyone check that out yet? one more thing...the book buy back starts tomorrow, if anyone is interested.

do we have to pay for our uniforms or is that included in our tuition? i know they asked for sizes. wasn't sure about that.

The uniform is not included in the tuition cost. The school asks for sizes so that they can give the uniform store a heads up for inventory purposes. My shirt was around $23 including patch (cheaper if you sew the patch yourself), and you can use any pair of white scrub pants. I got mine at Walmart for around $13.
The shoes don't have to be nursing shoes. Any pair of all-white athletic shoes would be fine as well.
Get your shirt early. Many people (including me) waited until the last minute and couldn't get their preferred size.

Where is the store we need to get it from???? I assume the shirt we HAVE to get from that particular store then??? Thanks for the info!
Uniforms...It is sad when uniforms get me all worked up!! I don't know where Tri-county uniforms is, anybody know, maybe clcstudent?
Thanks for that list Diedre....I am just overwhelmed with all of the stuff we have to get... although I am very excited to get to it. I did go and pick our my new watch today, my mom in law is buying it for me for christmas. My husband ordered my rolling back pack, and he wont even let me play with it alittle. It is just sitting in the basement still in the box.
I am all for some type of study group...I am all for good study partners. How many day untill orientation....It just feels like I'm not getting any closer to it.

tri county is across the street from the libertyville driver's license facility. life uniforms is in hawthorn. i strongly suggest calling before to see if they have both the patch and shirt in your size. otherwise, it may be a wasted trip.
We are all such dorks! I had the exact same thoughts as Heather and Diedra - wow I can't wait to go get my uniform!!! Somehow it might make the whole deal seem more official, you know?
I was in the health center yesterday after A&P to get some shots taken care of. Had TB and flu shot in left arm, my 3rd Hep B in right arm. My arms were aching SO bad last night. And this morning I woke up feeling achy and sniffly. Not bad, just a little. I know this is a normal reaction from the flu shot, so it's no biggie. If any of you are debating over getting a flu shot or not, my advice is GET IT!!! I had one last year while in the Phlebotomy program at CLC. I worked at a hospital from March through July and never got even a bit of flu, cold or anything. I am always the first one to get a cold or flu, and last year (the first time I got a flu shot in my life), I never even got a sniffle. My hubby had a couple of doozy colds last year, and was quite annoyed I never got sick. This year he's going to get a flu shot!
JCPenny outlet in Gurnee Mills has a huge selection of scrubs, and they are normally under $10. They also have a few different pairs of nursing shoes if you want to check them out. They have the largest selection of sizes in scrubs I have ever seen (regular and plus sizes in every color of the rainbow, plus some of the cutest patterns!). Many of you know me, and know that I'm pretty tall (5'11"). It's always a hassle finding pants that are long enough! I ended up going with the size XL pants. The L would've fit (maybe a tiny bit snug), but the XL's are longer and more comfortable. So keep that in mind Heather and Vicki since you gals are tall like me. For short shrimps like Diedre and Kelly () you are probably going to have to plan on hemming your scrub pants, or they'll be draggin' all over!
Anyone interested in planning a Uniform Day? We could go as a group to get our Uniforms and maybe celebrate with a lunch?

There is also a uniform store in the Gurnee Mills Mall (X-tra Credit Uniform?) that has a selection of petite and tall scrubs. Overall, not as big of a selection as JC Penney, but I was able to find "short" scrubs there and my lab partner bought "tall" ... no hemming required, which is always nice!
Thanks all for the info on the uniforms. I might go to pennys today and check it out-I have to go by nice black pants for my son-he has a band concert and believe it or not he doesn't own anything but jeans and sweats...boys!! I am excited just to be doing something related to nursing.
Hey, have any of you found any cpr classes?? I found one not full-its in Kenosha, I was hoping for something alitte closer with the weather. That is really the only thing left I have to do...getting alitte nervous tho I am having a hard time.
Hey, those of you in A and P- you have one more test, right? Or are you done? I have one more test on Monday-the final-how are you all feeling about it? I am actually pretty calm-I think I am just done with this semester. I haven't picked up a book since Wednesday. Figured it out though, even if I totally fail it-I will still pass the course with a B.
I am so done-lets get to the fun stuff!
