wcccd spring 09

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for everyone who is waiting on an acceptance letter from wcccd. The wait is really getting to me and I need to know I'm not the only impatient one!

Well I am right along with you all. I reapplied this time b/c they told me the 12 credit hour rule was going to apply then after applications were in they changed there minds and decided to let all these transfer students in anyways. Now I have to do the whole application process aver again when I could have just waited and reapplied for Fall 09. I went to two information meeting to be for sure that transfer students would have to have 12 credit hours and was told you must have 12 credits hours before you could apply to WCCCD nursing program. I even acted as if I wasn't a student their and was told the same thing. There's noway I am spending another dime with WCCCD. Nursing is my goal but having a 3.52 and not getting accepted is just a little over the top. I'm not even an alternate what kind of craziness is that. I have A's and B's in every single class taht is required for the school. Now my life is at a complete set back because WCCCD said one thing and did another. They have no perks for their students and now they want to change their application process after they have set my life back a whole year. I do blame the school because if they at least had a wait list at leadt I would know at one point or another that I will get in. Retake this, retake that for what for them to change their minds again. I will no longer put all my eggs in one basket. I'm so confused as to what to do now. I just needed to vent.

I have been reading all of your posts and everyone else's that didn't get in. I know exactly how you guys feel. I got my denial letters from Baker and MCC. You feel as though your life is on complete hold. I also read posts from people that mean well and say "don't give up on your dream of becoming a nurse" Well some people just don't have the luxury of putting their lives on hold and keep applying to programs. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and say to yourself, this isn't working, I have to try something else!

Specializes in CICU.

Life is never on hold, even if you are waiting on getting into school...

Best wishes to all, with whatever you decide.

That is excatly what others have been saying along with don't blame the school and so forth. My problem is I have been attending WCCCD since the Spring of 2005, I have went every semester never took a break and have gotten good gades in every course. And that doesn't count for anything what about the time and effort I have put into this school. That's excatly what I am considering a change b/c I have no more time to waste with them. It's always easier for people to speak when they are not walking in your shoes especially when they have not spent a dime at WCCCD.

What is even more crazy, your admitting GPA does not mean a daggone thing once you are IN the program. I used to pride myself on all As. My balloon popped in Foundations. Heck, I am doing a dance for mostly Bs, occasional As and a C.

Best wishes to all!!:clown:

i know, i was thinking of resubmitting my app. while also retaking A&P & Soc. over, so just in case my i don't get in for the fall of 09 i'll have the spring of 10.

Hi Lunden, I am going to reapply on February 16th for the Fall 09. I say reapply, because you just never know what the GPA cutoff will be and since they are making changes it might be for the better if they do what they say they are going to do. I think I am also going to attend yet another information meeting just too see if they have changed anything. Can't be to for sure with WCCCD there is a meeting on December 9 at the NW campus so I might just go to that one. Since I am retaking PSY 101 now it will help my GPA a little more, but not a 3.7. I am still going to transfer to WSU because I need to start working on my Bachelor's while I wait and also I get a chance to take Chem so that I can apply to other schools.

sounds like a plan. i will also go on the 9th, maybe we can meet.

Well I've had it with WCCCD. I'm not even going to attempt to try for Spring of 10. That's just crazy. I'm applying to the July LPN program at Toledo School of Practical Nursing. I'll be done in June of 10. Then I'm going to HFCC for their LPN to RN bridge program. The only thing I'm doing at WCCCD for this spring is taking A & P 2 over (HFCC doesn't accept a&p2 from Baker which is where I took it), and Chemistry. Then I'll be good to go for my RN. I am not going to sit around waiting till spring of 10 to even get started in a nursing program! WCCCD needs to get it together, they're going to turn a lot of people off.

If you're going to attend Toledo School of Practical Nursing, you may want to consider Mercy college of nursing in northwest Ohio. They offer a ASN, as well as BSN. :wink2:
