Published

Is everyone ready to go back to school? I am getting excited. Just thought I would start a thread for us 2nd semester students...:monkeydance:

Here I am!!!! Andrea, you will have M/S 2 starting Monday 12PM-2PM right? Please let me know how it goes....don't spare anything! My OB class will be on Wednesday with my all day clinical on Saturday.

My mommy already have my uniform pressed and ready to go....yeah, I will drive 20 miles one way for a good press (and to visit my parents:clown:).

I am excited and ready to get this show on the road....I like NS stress..... I have been doing my OB readings.....it is really fascinating.

Come on out 2nd semester students!

No, they changed my classes, I have MS lecture on Wednesdays at N.W. instead of Eastern Campus, from 3 p to 7 p, and Clinicals on Thursday and Friday from 7 a to 1 p. I am glad I don't have to drive to Eastern Campus!! I have to press my own uniforms , but it is fun all the same. I haven't really studied OB, as I am focusing on Cardiology for MS II. We are going to be on the Telemetry Unit. I can't wait to learn how to read the strips.

I forgot to add, they changed all of our MS II lecture classes, so there is 3 of them at N.W. during 3 to 7 pm on Wednesday, something about two Instructor's having emergencies. I am glad, because the Instructor I originally had was supposed to be a real tough one who fails most of her class. :o

Second semester here after failing DeSouza! in M/SI

hello to all the wcccd nursing students. i graduated in may 2007. good luck to each and everyone. remember this is a life changing career. while in school you will truly find out who you true friends are.

a word of advice: you must study you material and know it inside and out. some people say that it gets easier. to me my last semester was the hardest due to the fact that i anxious about finally getting close to the head.

:balloons::balloons::balloons:may god bless and good luck!:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:

thank you for the encouragement and advice. how are things going for you now? are you working and do you enjoy it? what area did you go in to if you are working? i have no clue what area i will like, guess i will know that more toward the end of the program. i am excited to start my second semester today, this afternoon we go..i am a bit nervous as i have heard the med/surg ii has a high rate of failure, but i am not going to even focus on that, i will just give my all, like i did in semester one. thank you once again.

Don't think about failing. Concentrate on passing. Going to nursing school is a life style change but when you finish there will be a change that can be forever. Keep you head....

Keep that chin up & don't beat yourself up! You are not alone in having to take MSI twice. Although I managed to pass (barely), we know that there is a lot of stuff to cover in those 7.5 weeks. Some of us need more time to comprehend it all. Especially when you have an instructor who doesn't lecture. Good luck this term.

Thank you and I will not stop until God Says it time to stop!

I have Desouza for M/s 1 staring in October....I am a little nervous. I have Crawford for 110 right now because of Ms. Dolphus being out and it is a really bad situation. She doesn't really lecture, when she does she just reads the bold print out of the book. When we have questions, she says to hold them until the end of class and at the end of class she says "sorry, we're out of time." Needless to say, no one is doing very well. Actually, most of us are barely passing after the first quiz and test.

It's pretty discouraging, because I read, and read, and use the study guide, and use the cd, and read, and study with someone from class....and I know the information, but the questions seem tricky. She wants us to "think like a nurse", but she won't teach us to "think like a nurse" ......Any words of encouragment would be appreciated.

I'm sorry that you're having a hard time with your instructor:icon_hug:. The only thing that I can tell you is to keep trying. Have you tried talking to the teacher maybe after class for some advice on how to pass her tests? I feel bad for you because I have Maddie and Caroline and they are the best. I really think that they go above and beyond and I'm going to miss them for the second semester. Nursing school is hard enough without having someone that doesn't seem to have the proper traits to be a teacher. Keep trying girl! We're going into the 4th week, so we're almost half way through the first 7.5 weeks. BTW, I also have Desouza for M/S I..are you going to be at the Western campus on Monday and Thursdays?
