  3. OB book is "Maternity Nursing" 7th edition by Lowdermilk Perry
  4. Hi, I really would like to know if nursing students are allowed to have breaks during their first Medical-Surgical Clinical. Our CI only gives us 10 min. for a break and we are in clinicals for 6 hrs I feel we should at least have 30 minutes. It takes at least 3 min. to take the elevator and that is not enough time to do anything. When we asked her about the breaks, she got pissed off and for the rest of the day treated everyone unfair and wrote most of us up for any and everything. She stated that we were there to learn and do patient care not to take breaks. Please give your opinion on this situation. Do you feel this is fair? What would you have done? Oh by the way, we still only got 10 min. Confused and Discouraged
  5. BIO 155 is a WCCCD required course. A general biology class to prepare you for A&P 1,2, Microbiology and Pathophysiology.
  6. Yes Syncere, you are absolutely correct! It goes by a lottery and when your name is called you have to pick from whatever classes that are still available. You can have all of your classes scattered all over Southeast Michigan. There is no guarantee that you will obtain classes at the campus of your choice unless you are fortunate enough to be called among the first group of people.
  7. Which ever GPA is higher they will go with that one.
  8. The GPA was based first on the five pre-reqs need for the program. If you have completed other required classes pertaining to nursing like your co-reqs. DT130, SOC100, HSC200, HSC100, and Pathophysiology 252, then they would consider those classes in your GPA as well. You only attend summer classes if you need to make up a class. If you start in Fall 06, you will attend Fall 06 and Winter 07 semester's only. You will be out the the summer of 07, continue in Fall 07 and Winter 08 and graduate Spring Class of 2008.
  9. You will not be able to apply for the nursing program until Winter 08. You must have a letter grade on your transcript for all of the required classes.
  10. Yes it does and I was already aware of what WCCCD's accreditation meant.
  11. This is my plan as well, so the degree from WCCCD really would not matter.
  12. I went through the BLS course that was listed in the acceptance letter. It was just 4hrs and the cost was only $50. Did you give HES a call?
  13. Wayne County Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, 30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400 Chicago, Illinois 60602-2504, 1-800-621-7440 www.ncacihe.org
  14. Well, I did get my CPR certification done this week as well as my physical and shots from my doctor. I'm just waiting on the results so they can document them on the health forms and I will start to celebrate once I finish my online classes around the beginning of August.
