WCCCD Fall 2008 Waiting!

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

I figure we might as well go ahead and start a thread for those of us who are waiting for our letters to come....

I was looking through back postings and in 2006 letters were received July 13th and in 2007 letters were received June 26th...Boy is that a broad range of time to determine when letters will come....I think they do it on purpose to try to drive us all mad LOL

So, how is everyone holding up during this waiting process. I think the unknown is the worst thing possible. I am trying to stay positive and relaxed about this whole process, but it is becoming more difficult as the time draws nearer...

How are all of you coping with the stress of waiting? I've been doing a lot of graphic designing lately and delving myself deeply into my studies. I found the more involved I am with school, the faster the time goes by because of deadlines and such...(midterm is coming up next week) Can you believe this semester is almost half way over with?

Anyway, let's keep each other company while we all wait for the GOOD news! ;)

Congrats to all of you future nurses that got in. I am so excited for all of you. 3.7 that's really high. My GPA wasn't that high so I might follow you guys in January if I'm an alternate. Is it true that 19 alternates were accepted. I really hope I'm one of them. I will do a happy dance for all of you. I'm a little depressed right now. I haven't received anything today. But I will not give up on something I have worked so hard for.

SillyRabbit, THanks for the congratulations....You will get in for January I am sure of it! This semester was very competitive because of it being the last semester for transfer without needing 12 credit hours. Keep your head up and DONT ever give up on your dream!

Did you get your letter? If not, maybe it will come on Monday, you know how the mail can be. Good luck and keep us posted....

Does anyone no what the GPA cutoff was for the alternates. My friend is an alternate and she has a 3.61. Just curious as to how this whole process works. It seems to me that they only looked at the pre-req course and didn't consider the co-req courses. Even though they said they will. I was just wondering if alternates were accepted on the same terms. I just really hope I am an alternate so I don't have to reapply.

I heard it was 3.6 but I don't know for sure. Call the nursing office on Monday and ask them...They should tell you! Good luck SillyRabbit...I know how bad you want this! You will get in the program in January I am sure of it! :D

I am doing my pre-reqs this year I will be waiting for mine for the fall of 2009.

I dropped my acceptance card off today and they said the cut-off was 3.7. I didn't think to ask about the cut-off for alternates.

I still cant believe how high the GPA cut off is...Just goes to show you that you never KNOW!!!!

:angryfireUGGGHHHH!!!! So ****** at disorganized WCCCD Nursing Office..

Recieved letter today saying sorry...not in because of missing Advanced Standing Form... BS!! I ran in circles trying to get this advanced standing form from WCCCD and after many calls, visits, etc the nursing office told me "Well don't you have the Transfer Credit Evaluation form from us yet?" I said yes I do..She said "Well that's what we are looking for." Now I get this letter telling me I am not in the program because of this!! AAARRGGGHHH! I called the nursing office after recieving the letter and was told to call in the morning and schedule an appointment with Mrs. Norris and she would see what could be done..So hopefully she can see me tomorrow before either smoke blows from my ears or I drown myself in my own tears...I don't know if I want to cry or scream...My GPA is 3.96 and all other paperwork is there, plus I'll be going in with extensive phone records and postal date stamped letters showing I did my part and that THEY screwed up..ARRGG

Anyone else have a similar situation with them? If so, was Mrs. Norris of any help at all? Any added advice or opinions on whether this meeting with her will help at all.. I'm going no matter what, but am curious as to how much you think this will help, if at all....The student counselor told me I should at minimum demand I be put on the waiting list, but to be honest I doubt anyone is going to go through all the hassle just to decline their position...

MEME!!!!! I am so sorry!!! This is exactly why I was sooooo nervous about getting in or not...:sniff:It is NOT fair at all and I would be P.O.'d to no end too....You have every right to be....

I hope they do something about it, what they will do I am not sure of....seems they need to do something though....Good luck tomorrow and let us know what happens!:o
