A&P grade?
I agree. A&P 1 was harder than 2.. I think because in AP1 you start getting an understanding and are just learning and by 2 you have a basis of the subject matter, making it easier.

What was school like for you and other questions...
I don't really know anything about the scrubs needed or specific rules regarding color. I go to WCCCD and have all of my pre and co reqs finished. I applied to the nursing program for this fall but due to the office losing my paperwork I had a piece of paperwork dated too late and was denied entrance, but plan to reapply and intend to be accepted for the winter. My GPA, deadlines for paperwork, etc are all in order so there should be no issues with winter acceptance..I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and shaking in my boots anyways though! lol Goodluck in the program

A&P grade?
I also managed an A for both AP1 and AP2. It took hard work and dedication though. I never missed a class and studied hard. Good noted were key too!

How many hours can you work while studying?
Thank you for asking this question and to everyone who has replied. I was wondering this same thing myself. I need to start working to help make ends meet and was concerned about the same things. I'm glad to know that with the right mindset it IS possible to accomplish!

Chem 1 vs. Microbio - Which should I take with AP2?
I took AP at the same time as micro and it wasn't too bad...at least I didn't think so. I think the instructors you have make all the difference though as well as your dedication to the classes and coursework. I tend to do better at the biology type of science courses more so than chemistry though. I stink at chem or at even understanding chem in the least bit...lol so I might be a bit partial! lol

ADVICE Just Found out That I'm Pregnant
I don't think being pregnant and giving birth while in the nursing program will be easy... but if you are dedicated and keep your eyes on the prize anything can be accomplished.. It just might be a little more difficult, but CAN be done. As far as taking a week off..I don't know. I know the nursing programs are really strict about missing class and clinicals.. Just speak with the head of your nursing program or your instructors beforehand to see what can be worked out. Congrats and goodluck!

Finally Here 12 MONTH LPN PROGRAM IN DETROIT
It's about time they brought a 12 month LPN program back to the area! I was actually searching for that until I decided driving Toledo wasn't possible and enrolled at WCCCD to work towards an RN. Thank you for posting this news. I know it will be extremely helpful to many people.

Accelerated OCC?
With the accelerated program do they take students in the fall only or do they offer twice a year enrollment like some of the otehr local colleges do? Also, am I correct in understanding the accelerated program is 1 1/2 years rather than 2?

How many people are taking their Pre-Reqs?
I just finished my pre-reqs last semester at WCCCD and am now going to be taking classes towards my BSN this coming fall before starting the nursing program (hopefully) this winter term. Once I complete my associates in nursing I will be going to WSU for my BSN...Or at least those are my intentions. I am a 30 yr old married mom of one. My daughter is 11 and going on 35.. Gotta love these pre-teen years! We spend a lot of time together. In the summer we try to go to our family's cabin up north as much as possible and on weekends we like going out on my mother's boat and spending the day swimming,bbq'n...the typical summer fun with the family I guess! We haven't ridden horses in what seems like forever, but it sure sounds fun!

WCCCD Fall 2008 Waiting!
You are right.. I don't intend to demand anything because I know it will hurt me more than help me in this situation...I was just meaning to state what student services told me to do...I'm going to go in there with as hopeful and positive an attitude as I possibly can. I'm not angry with Mrs. Norris...it isn't she who told me that the paperwork I had was what was needed... I'm angry that the school is as disorganized as they are and angry at the situation...I didn't work this hard to be shut down when I did what I was suppose to do. You gave extremely good tips and pointers that I WILL take into action and I appreciate your help.. The more I talk about it and recieve advice, the more I am calming down a bit, but until the meeting with Mrs. N is done I think I will be a little on edge.. I pray that something can be done to remedy this situation but if it can't..well then it can't but I'll do all I can in the meantime.

WCCCD Fall 2008 Waiting!
I definitely will let you know what happens at the meeting asap.. I have all documentation of my trying to go through hoops for this paper too.. I have numerous phone records showing me calling the nursing program, registrars office, mailings back and forth dated by the post office and more so I hope something can and will be done about this. I think I have more than enough proof that I did what I was suppose to do and that this was THEIR mistake.. We shall see how it goes and I will let you know whats up as soon as I know whats up...

Happy Letters WCCCD
just posted this on waiting list forum and realized it should have been posted here so i am reposting here... :angryfireuggghhhh!!!! so ****** at disorganized wcccd nursing office.. recieved letter today saying sorry...not in because of missing advanced standing form... bs!! i ran in circles trying to get this advanced standing form from wcccd and after many calls, visits, etc the nursing office told me "well don't you have the transfer credit evaluation form from us yet?" i said yes i do..she said "well that's what we are looking for." now i get this letter telling me i am not in the program because of this!! aaarrggghhh! i called the nursing office after recieving the letter and was told to call in the morning and schedule an appointment with mrs. norris and she would see what could be done..so hopefully she can see me tomorrow before either smoke blows from my ears or i drown myself in my own tears...i don't know if i want to cry or scream...my gpa is 3.96 and all other paperwork is there, plus i'll be going in with extensive phone records and postal date stamped letters showing i did my part and that they screwed up..arrgg anyone else have a similar situation with them? if so, was mrs. norris of any help at all? any added advice or opinions on whether this meeting with her will help at all.. i'm going no matter what, but am curious as to how much you think this will help, if at all....the student counselor told me i should at minimum demand i be put on the waiting list, but to be honest i doubt anyone is going to go through all the hassle just to decline their position...

Hello WCCCD Nursing Students!
I am having the same panicked worries about my application packet as you are. I'm sure we had everything and it's all fine, but your right...I would have rather stayed longer and had my packet looked over by Mrs. N to alleviate any of these worries and second thoughts. I'm sure it's just our minds playing tricks on us because we have so much hope riding on acceptance into this program. Hopefully in the next month to month and a half we'll both be on here screaming YEAAAHHH! We got in!! lol

Hello WCCCD Nursing Students!
Hello Serenity, Well it's nice to meet a possible classmate! I just called the nursing office and asked when we should expect to recieve our happy letters and the woman on the phone said they were still going through the paperwork and that we should know by the end of July!?!?!? Hopefully she overstated the timeline so that I wasn't calling again at the end of this month.. I guess we'll see. Six weeks, as you had mentioned, seems right to me when I look at older posts on this site. And your right, six weeks would put us at July 14th so I guess her answer of "by the end of July" is about right. The waiting game is tough! When I look at the fall registration on WCCCD's website their doesn't seem to be a ton of classes or class choices available. Early registration starts at the end of June so hopefully with the lottery the early registration won't affect us in any way. My GPA is really high, so hopefully that will be enough that they don't even need to use my NET scores. I was so sick on the day of the NET. I passed, but didn't do so hot. They only refer to the NET results as a tie breaker, right?
