  1. I wrote this long reply and it was erased im so not a good typer...LOl I want to just let dirdar no to keep being persistant with DHCCC its worth it ..believe me the program is still continuing it just will be under another umbrella besides Oakland University rumors are it maybe st johns or focus hope..keep calling and making ur name known...Im now working for the DMC im getting excellent exp. and great benefits and I love interacting with the patients...my true love is with the elderly so im also dabbling there to..the pay is better at the nursing home but i wanted to keep my skills..I hope this motivates you not to give up ..just know that every job you apply to will be calling you back for an interview or a job offer..so be ready to hit the ground running...I wish all the best
  2. My friend is going to the school tomorrow morning and I told her to drill them for information if anyone can do it she can . So when she comes back with her report I willl be sure to post anymore info. I agree with most ppl on this board ..I truly believe it's a scam. If so the only other LPN programs for those interested in LPN is Everest and the one I attended through the Detroit Care Health Care Career Center which is very hard to get into. I guess I'll just go ahead with Excelsior LPN to RN program if anyone knows of any other ones with a not so long waiting list pLease post . Thanks I wish everyone the best and always hold on to your dreams never give up because we need good nurses.
  3. I agree with you totally I started a thread within the georgia region and found out that their only known for Medical asst. training. I'm going to go ahead with my first mind and stick with a community college etc.
  4. Thank you for responding
  5. Has anyone ever heard of National Medical Academy based in Riverdale Ga. I live in Michigan and I've been hearing alot about this school I was told that they offered lpn certificates that only to took one year to complete. But that wasn't what sold me I was also told that the school offered LPN to Rn courses that only took 9 months to complete. Considering I'm already a Lpn I decided to check it out. I went to the school which is located in a church here in mich. I wasn't able to speak to anyone because you had to have an appt. So I basically want to know if any of my GA peaches can give me any insight on this school since its based out Ga. One more thing cash only is the method of payment they havent been approved to accept financial aid etc. Sounds to good to be true

  7. Just wanted to inform everyone that I graduated from the LPN program at the Detroit Health Career Center. The Graduation ceremony was beautiful. I tried not to cry but I couldn't hold it in....the tears just started flowing when I saw that certificate that said Oakland University Licensed Practical NUrsing program at the DHCC. So ladies and gents it can be done. Keep pursing your dreams now it's time to accomplish my RN degree.
  8. I just wanted to let everyone know that Everest Institute has an Lpn program that just started this Jan it's a year to. The only drawback is that it's about 16,000 dollars but with financial aid and a loan or two it can be done. Just wanted to put that out there for those of you who are having a hard time with the Health Career Center. Good Luck!
  9. I personally wouldn't advice saying that you already have your CNA license. I know a few ppl that were denied admission because they already have their CNA license. I heard that a lot of ppl was complaining about having to take courses over because they were already a CNA through a facilty and not the state. So in order to cut down on confusion ppl with previous healthcare experience wasn't being accepted. I'm not for sure if it has changed ... that would be information I would keep untold. Bite the bullet and retake the courses it will go by fast. In other cases having experience is a plus but I'm not so sure wiht this particular situation. The choice is yours. Good Luck!!
  10. Your welcome! I would call first and see what the school suggest. They have changed the procedures so I'm not for certain if you should drive there first with gas being so expensive. Call the Michigan works closest to you. I personally went to the one on Fort st. 962-9675 because its a one stop location meaning that when you turn in your paper work it doesnt have to go to another location...your paper work can actual be walked down one flight of stairs to the nursing Dept. If you go to another location which is fine it just will go through to many hands and thats more wasted time. The quicker the better. Let us know how it goes.
  11. I attended the orientation on fort street. The one stop centers orientations consist of telling you about the financial resources available. The Nursing school is on the 4th floor at 455 fort street. There is a receptionist in the front that can tell you everything you need to know if you aren't getting info from the one stops. Again they basically prepare and approve u for your grant money. After that step is completed ur career coach will ask you what career you are interested in... you tell him nursing. From then your paper work will be transferred to the 4th floor which is the nursing school. So its really about how fast you complete your paper work with the one stop. Once thats completed stay on top of your career coach..My career coach told me he was going to put out a stalker complaint:coollook: because I made my face known to him...he knew me by name and it paid off. As of now there is no waiting list. So anyone interested turn in your paper work as soon as possible. Fyi you can go to any one stop closest to you.
  12. I love it... what keeps me going is knowing that I will be finish with this part of my schooling in November. Its very accelerated but its worth it. I truly understand you on the whole afternoon class situation. When I was working a 9 to 5 I never could attend nursing school for the simple fact that most clinicals are during the day. When I got laid off I said well one good thing came out of this I can now attend school. LOL You should really look into this program because they do have afternoon clinicals that start at 3pm and maybe you could rotate ur schedule around that. I dont know if thats feasible for you or not. What school are you looking to attend?
  13. I agree with you totally....thanks for wishing me the best on my nursing journey and I in return wish you well on yours.
  14. You sound like you want to kick my a** there is a way to get ur point across. I really shouldn't even be taking the time out to explain myself to u but I will. I have been getting so many questions asked regarding it being in detroit and if it is bootleg so what i did to cut down on the confusion is nipped it in the bud so I wouldn't have to defend the school constantly. If u read my post I clearly state that its an excellent school...but instead of noticing the positive you strive on the negative aspect.. that you misconstrued. I have lived in detroit all my life not just in detroit but in the hood so please dont come on me with that I want some attention attitude. But I will apologise if you were offended you took the whole statement wrong
  15. Ok, I just wanted to chime in here, but I take offense to, "bootleg and the word Detroit", what do you mean by that! As if what, because Detroit has something to do with it, its not a good school. There are more so called "legit" but on the real "bootleg" schools outside of the city of Detroit. You really need to watch what you say, or write, don't blame Detroit for everyone elses short comings, or stop blaming Detroit for everything that doesn't work in the state of Michigan. People just think that they can say anything about this city and don't know what the hell they are talking about, so unless you live in this city, I suggest you keep your derrogatory statements to yourself!! You sound like you want to kick my a** there is a way to get ur point across. I really shouldn't even be taking the time out to explain myself to u but I will.
