Hi Everyone! I attend Wayne County Community College District. I was wondering if anyone new anything about WCCCD's nursing program. Do they have a waiting list? If so, how long is the waiting list. Any info given will be helpful. Thanks!

Do you go to school at Wayne County Community also? I plan on applying for the Fall of 2006 program. I am taking the NET on 2/17, all the pre-reqs are complete, so this semester taking Pathophysiology, Nutrition for Health Professionals, English II, and Michigan History. I have always wanted to take that History class, so that is why I picked that. I have a 3.3 GPA and hope to do well on the NET, I am confident I have a great chance of getting accepted in to the program for the fall. So how is it in the beginning of Nursing classes? Is it like extremely intense? What is the hardest things about so far? I am so nervous.

How many people were admitted to your Nursing program? What were the different GPA's that were accepted? Is it really intense with the studying? Do you have to buy uniforms and etc.? I am looking forward to it in the Fall.

Could you explain what the NET is? I'm interested in pursuing a nursing degree and I don't know what that is.

Are you in college already? The NET is the Nurse entrance exam you must take in order to apply to some college's nursing program.

The first semester is so intense! I cant even begin to describe how intense it is. The hardest thing is keeping up with the reading assignments for three different classes. We have anywhere from 2 to 3 tests/quizes/checkouts each week. Its OUT OF HAND!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you all the luck in the world in the fall!

The lowest GPA accepted for our group was I believe a 3.2 but keep in mind each rotation is different. If more people apply with a 3.5 or higher GPA then that will leave less room for lower GPA's. If you are in a tie with another person for the last spot, your NET score is the tie breaker. Try to do your best of best on that NET test. YES it is very very intense with the studying. Join study groups and utilize your time wisely. Yes you have to buy uniforms, equipment like your stethascope, tape measure, pen light etc. What campus are you trying to get into? NW fills up first then W, then E. Good luck for the Fall admissions. Let me know if you get in or not.

Thanks for your answer. I already have a BA and I want to go back to school for nursing. I keep seeing references to the NET and wasn't sure what it was.

I guess it would be the W. campus. Hadn't put much thought in to that yet. Thanks for the advice. I will post what the results are in a few months. How long does it take to find out if your accepted?

I will have all pre req.'s for WCCCD at the end of this winter semester...have to get APII out of the way! Can I still apply for fall of 2006, or winter of 2006. I have a good chance of getting in to OCC for fall of 2007, but am trying to find a faster route. Any advice?

You will be able to apply in fall 2006. The deadline to turn in your application is May 27, 2006. I recommend that you attend a nursing information session and this way all of your questions about the program will be answered.
