I am in the same boat as you. I'm also going from Social Work to nursing. I've looked into a lot of programs. I'm not sure where you live, but Medical College of Ohio in Toledo has an evening and weekend Associate degree program. Since you already have your Bachelor and Master Degree you already have many of the classes (except the core nursing classes) done, so you'll be part time. Schoolcraft College has an associate program as well that is 3 days per week. I've been told by several colleges that an associate degree in nursing along with a Bachelor Degree in another field will entitle you to move up to management or pursue a master level nursing degree. You don't have to do a second Bachelor nursing program. I've found that most of those programs are either accelerated and full time or it takes 3 years part time. An associate degree program seemed to be the best way to go. I hope this helps. I used this forum to get more info. too. Good Luck.

I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about the GEMINI program. I'm considering it, and wanted to know what kind of time commitment is involved. How many days per week? How many hours per day for class? How much study time? How difficult is the program? What was your GRE score? I wanted to have an idea of what kind of score you need to be competitive. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your info. My issue is that I have 2 young children and wanted to find something that wasn't M-F all day. I was hoping to find something in the evenings or weekends or just 2-3 weekdays, so I could still stay home with my children and work out a schedule with my husband. So far I haven't seen anything in my area.

I want to earn a second Bachelor in Nursing, but I haven't been able to find any programs in Michigan or Ohio that offer classes on evenings or weekends. I'm hoping there is some program out there that caters to working adults. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I'm considering a second degree accelerated program and found this info so helpful. I had a few more questions... How many days per week is the program? Is it only during the day, or is there an option to take classes in the evening? Did you say you had to study 4-6 hours per day or week? I thought I read something on their website about doing your program through a certain hospital where more help is needed, and in return your tuition is paid or partially paid??? Do you know anything about that? Do you have to go to the Oakland campus for all the classes or are there other sites? I live in Monroe, so it would be a hike. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hello Everyone, I'm looking into pursuing a second Bachelor Degree in nursing. I'm so worried about getting further into debt with student loans. I was wondering if there are any hospitals in the Detroit or surrounding area that offer repayment of your tuition once you begin working as a nurse. Do any hospitals actually pay for your schooling in exchange for your employment? Or are there any other programs out there I could look into? I'm just trying to figure out a way to afford going back to school and paying loans once I graduate. I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks, Heather

Hello out there. I currently have a BA and want to go into nursing. My schedule won't allow me to do an accelerated second bachelor nursing program. I have to go part time. My question is should I go for by BSN and have two Bachelors or just do an RN program. Is there a difference between a BSN or RN, BA? Could I still go into management or get my Masters degree as a BA, RN. Is the pay still the same. I just want to choose the right path. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
