Waubonsee Community College-- Starting in Fall

Published

Hey everyone!! I just found out last week that I got accepted into Waubonsee Community College's nursing program!! I will be starting in October. Has anyone gone there? Any advice? What did your schedule look like? I am making myself crazy thinking about it. I have 3 kids that I will have to have in daycare. I wish I could know what my schedule will be now, but I won't know about the clinicals until after class starts. Any input is welcome!!!

We still have not heard anything at all. :crying2:

I was denied so theory can be wrong

Rs....but what date was your letter dated?

Rs....you also did not complete the residency requirements......so perhaps it does not fit in with the "theory".

nursetobeswife - did hubby apply to chamberlain?

Hi nursetobeswife - there is another discussion that you should join regarding COD. It also refers to Chamberlain, and perhaps could help you! It is known as:

C.O.D LPN alternate list

Oct 29. I don't think that really matters. I'm sure if your denied the letters are prob coming at anytime. But anyways I'd rather be hopeful for people And think the best for them then thinking theory is always right! Never know someone may not take their seat and another be let on so they get their letter later. Just my opinion.

Yes, He spoke with someone at Chamberlain a few months ago, just waiting for the letter and he'll go back again.

RSCOD,

Are you not in district for Waubonsee? Do you think that made a difference when applying?

I plan on moving to Aurora early next year and applying to Waubonsee's nursing program.

CDNtobe,

How many times did you apply before being accepted to the program? And do you mind me asking what your GPA and PAX scores were? You can PM me if you'd like. I am just curious because my grades are definitely not perfect and I want to know what kind of chance I have of getting in. Thank you in advance.

Hi rocky410 - WCC definitely gives preference to in-district students, probably 75% or more are in-district, judging by the last graduating class, where they listed names and hometowns. WCC does not have the strictest admission requirements. As long as you have a gpa of 2.5 and pass all the entrance exams, you have an equal chance. However, currently there is about a semester's wait period to get in, and this is after you have completed all your prereqs and then apply.

rocky 410 - I got in on the third try, but some of my classmates got in on the second try. I finished my prereqs in Dec 2009 and am starting in Jan 2011. WCC is the least costly of all options in the west suburbs, so that is one reason that I have waited it out.

I was in the district but I just had my baby so I didn't do what was necessary to prove my residency. So who knows what could have been. If your moving to aurora make sure you are in their district. I am now in CODs district. And by no means are WCC residency requirements lenient. And don't let cost nor your grades be a factor. You may make it the first. Second or third time. Just keep trying. I believe I can get into COD the first time. Time will tell!
