Wow. Just wow. I just got a phone call from The College Network regarding my posts here at allnurses.com. Somehow they connected my name with my postings. I have no idea how they did that but I would guess they probably had a troll PMing with me at some point. They used my account information to then call me to discuss my postings about them. My understanding is that the contact information they have is for business purposes, not to call and harass people about their postings on an internet board. I think this is more than a little creepy and possibly illegal. I told the guy as much and said I would absolutely be posting the minute I hung up to let others know what happened. I'm going to have a chat with the BBB about this as well. So be forewarned, whether you decide to use them or not, if they have your personal information and you post on here about them they will probably use that information to call and talk to you about your postings. Creepy stalkers. :angryfire Big brother is watching. Stay the heck away from these people!
I went to one of their "informational" meetings years back-just wanted to find out what they wer all about. What a high-pressure sell! I remember a form that they handed out///ifyou were not careful, you would have financed the entire program at a high interest rate. When I said that I really was not prepared to start the program on the spot, the rep got very huffy, and persistent Lucky for me, I walked out...
on a relatet note...since I started following this site, I have gotten what I assume are calls from sponsers that are mentioned on the site. Happened to anybody else?
I've received advertising info but I'm more inclined to believe that they were using the mailing list provided by my state Board.
I am at work but I had to log in to respond. A co-worker of mine told me she was going to sign up with TCN today. I had to stop her in her tracks when she said it's better than Excelsior. Well, well, well....I had to sit her down and tell her the facts. Let's just say she won't be losing any money with TCN in the near future. Oh, did I say that....TCN are you going to call me next?????
I make certain that when I discuss distance learning opportunities with others that I make certain that they are aware to stay away from TCN. I consider it to be a professional service to prevent others from getting fleeced.
are you kidding me??????????? what the *&$%.......did you ask him how he got up the nerve to make that phone call????? well i hate tcn and post against them when possible so ill await my phone call
oh you bet i did! he didn't say much in return but that might be because i kept talking over him and telling him off. he called with the premise that they just wanted to see if there was anything they could help with. whatever. i was mostly going off on how they connected my name with my posts. he kept saying i must have posted my name or email address on the board. um, yeah, i was stupid enough to use them but that doesn't automatically mean i am stupid enough to post my name on the internet. :angryfire he never did come clean on how they got my name from my posts.
i rec'd a similar phone call months back, i just ignored them because i was so done with them :angryfire. they won't get away with their scamming for long. but in the meantime we must continue to educate those who do not know about tcn. not only are we helping them save thousands of dollars, we are also saving the headaches of failing tests because of lack of proper info...
nurseamber t,
now that you have signed up with them it won't be a total waste of money, but don't just utilized their modules alone. be sure that you look at the ec study guide and check if there is anything that wasn't covered in the tcn module. i did well enough with sociology and across lifespan using just tcn modules. i used both tcn and other study texts for micro and all my other nursing courses. the one thing i can say that was good with tcn is, they did encourage me and got me started on my nursing degree. and don't forget, many people absolutely loved tcn because all the material is condensed. they just may not cover everything.
good luck...

According to the movie Wilde, this is how Oscar Wilde was caught- he went to court to challenge an accusation that he was gay, lost because he was gay, and then went to jail for being gay. If TCN tries to cause trouble over what everyone is saying, they're just going to get themselves in trouble.
