Nursing Students NCLEX

I just want to ventilate and warn those of you who decide to reschedule their date for NCLEX test at the very last moment.
One day before my test, I called the customer services of Pearson VUE and was told that I was 3 hours late -- you have to call minimum 24 hours before your appointment-- therefore I have to re-register and pay $200.00 again. Next day I didn't come to take NCLEX; I re-registered on-line, paid my fee, and called the customer service to make a new appointment, and then I was told that I also need to have a new ATT.
Shortly, I have to reapply for the Board of Nursing, pay again 75 dollars, and wait for 2-3 months for a new ATT.
I understand about paying 200 dollars for not showing up -- it is a business and they don't have to lose a payment for a seat, but in my opinion, it is unfair to make a person to reapply to the Boar of Nursing and wait -- I didn't fail my test, I called 21 hours before the test instead of 24 hours.

Geees! Wow! That really really sucks! Looks like you went thru a lot!
Hate to be nosey or anything but why did you have to reschedule your test? Was it because you weren't ready? I know things happen the last minute but you should of just done it and get it over with! But that's just my opinion!
But glad you posted this so, anyone can read it and "Just incase" someone had to reschedule the last minute would know the price they had to pay!
Too bad you had to go thru that!

That really stinks, I'm sorry you have to deal with that! :icon_hug:I knew that you had to give them 24 hours notice, and if you didn't you have to repay the $200 but I had no idea you had to pay and wait for a new ATT. Take this time to study so this way as soon as you get your new ATT you can schedule your nclex ASAP.
Best of luck to you!

I have family and three kids.
I am ready for NCLEX. I took KAPLAN and received 65 and 68 on 6th and 7th tests-- you probably know about seven test. I am an "A" student, and my ATI score on the Readiness test was 74.
It's not important right now, really. I think that the provider of the customer service didn't give all information (he said, I have to re-register and pay 200 dollars), otherwise I would think twice before making my decision.

I'm sorry you have to repay, I know that information was printed out in the confirmation email I got after I applied for my first test date so I moved heaven & earth to make sure I didn't wind up in that boat too Good Luck with your next date!

Just want to share my experience. I had to reschedule, had to pay to register again $200 but did NOT have to pay the BON again. They told me to check retest on the form(which indicates you do not need to pay again). I did need another ATT. Ill tell you. Ive been waiting and waiting and waiting for it. Finally, I called Pearson Vue and BON, I called several times bcuz they were too quick. Once I finally got someone to listen to me, they told me what to do: reapply but suddenly this morning, I had my new ATT without having to reapply..go figure. So I guess calling and actually talking to a person might make some sort of difference.

Not all BON's will do it and not pay anything, some actually have a retest fee

The same thing happened to a fellow nurse I work with, she didnt not study--went into denial of sorts and the day before her sched 0800 test she called to resched. She called at 0900 and the rule is 24 hours--that is the rule and she like you had to re-pay.
I am curiouse too, why did you not go?? Such an important day, something you worked so hard for.
I think the op has her own reasons to why they didn't want to go at that time, things do happen and not always expected
Maybe there was no charge because it was within the timeframe and I never tested. They said if i HAD tested, it would be different. I never took NCLEX. Of course, nothing is the same everywhere...

Thank you very much for this info.
First of all, it's good to know that I am not alone, that these things do happen sometimes. I have already felt like a small child. I agree that it wasn't wise to change the date at the very last moment.
How long have you been waiting for a new ATT? What state? I am in CA. What did you say? I called a few times to Pearson and a few times to BON (CA) and have already send my application with payment. For me, the most terrible part in all this situation is Time.
