Hi there! New grad here (yes, I said it!). Took the test two weeks ago, found out my college only sent out our transcripts a week ago, so now I really don't know where in the "time frame" me and my classmates are with regards to results.
I read that CA still processes licenses by hand, thus adding to the waiting time. However, other students from other schools have received their results in less than two weeks.
I'm so frustrated, at the same time very very very anxious. As with most NCLEX-RN takers, I have NO IDEA how I did on the test. I just don't want to burden my parents with another $200 for me to retake my exam.
Some of my classmates have a pride thing, where they would be so ashamed if they didn't pass. For me, I just want to do what I want to do, care for patients, as soon as I can. Hopefully the test found me a safe entry level nurse. If not, well....
I'm ready to relocate if need be. I live in the Bay Area and its cut throat over here... I'm guessing more than 10 people vying for one precious position.
How did you guys handle the wait???

your guess is low balling... try 150 per position (i am moving to ca soon so this is my experience thus far). good luck with the wait. in the meantime, try looking in state and out of state for positions. you can still apply while you wait. it should not take long to get your license if everything is in order.

Do the Pearson Trick. It worked for me! It also helped relieve so much anxiety.

ABSOLUTELY it works! DO IT NOW!
I used it, people in my class that failed the first time used it twice and say it works in both instances. I had an instructor tell me one day all of her students have used it and there have been no false (negative or positive) results.
That's just dumb that you have to wait so long--the results were calculated before you left your chair. It makes me mad that these states delay so long and then want to charge you for expidited results.
I have done the trick im just so scared that ill be the 1% that gets the good pop up and still fail. I've actually done it several times, i took the test saturday at 8am and still no results posted. UGGGGH WHATS THE HOLD UP IM GOING INSANE!!!!! Did anyone else have to wait so long????? PLEASE HELP IM GOIN INSANE HERE AND NOBODY AT MY HOME UNDERSTANDS THE PRESSURE IM FEELING THEY JUST THINK IM EXAGGERATING.
I feel--and remember--your pain. Only those of us that have endured the trial, that is nursing school, can understand.
Keep the faith! The "trick" works with 99 percent accuracy (the 1 percent being those whose results are manually pulled for some unusual reason). Take faith in the trick. Take faith that even if the worse happens, you will retake and pass in 30-days (or 45-days in some states). It's NOT the end of your world!

I live in Pa and was able to find out the day after I took the test. I went to Pa licensure board website and did a search for my name. About 24.5 hours after I took the test and after my 100th+ time of looking it finally came up, my name with an RN license number. I started crying and checked about 20 more times that day just to make sure they didn't make a mistake......I would not have survived waiting longer than I did. I was ready to call my doc for a prescription for something! It was pure hell!!!! I can't imagine waiting that long. Good luck to you....

I'm also in the Bay Area, and there was also a delay in my results because I took the NCLEX so soon after graduation that the BRN didn't have my transcripts yet.
Have you searched for your name in the online database yet? It's at rn.ca.gov , under "permanent license verification". If it's not there yet, and if your school sent your transcripts a week ago, they may still be sitting on someone's desk. When my license hadn't yet posted online 7 days after I took the NCLEX (it only takes 2-3 days to post if all of your other paperwork is in order), I called the BRN and found out my transcript was on someone's desk -- they moved it to the top of the file, and my license posted a couple of days after that. They say not to call the BRN, but I found it wasn't that hard getting through to a live person who was able to find my paperwork.
Good luck -- I know the waiting can be hard!

It all depends on how fast your school sends out the transcripts really. I had my license in 2 weeks after taking the NCLEX in CA. If you find out the school is dragging their feet, then you can personally hand deliver the transcripts if you live close to Sac.
The CA BRN is really backed up with the amount of nursing schools here. My nursing department actually had us start the paperwork months in advance, including the request for transcripts and livescan. Went to a large public school so transcripts take forever here.

THANK YOU TO THOSE THAT REACHED OUT AND GAVE COMFORT FORM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD IT TRULY IS APPRECIATED. I GUESS I CAN GET SOME SLEEP FINALLY.
