I also got a job offer, seems like no one on the board is a current or former employee. I did a Yelp search and found good stuff on the specific clinic, however they have not told me any details on compensation. That's not my primary goal anyway, but its a significant detail that's being left out. I'm quite excited about the job however, it seems like a lot of fun and a great learning experience. & I am pretty loyal so if they retain me ill stay.

Hey there, I got interviewed and got offered a job at an aesthetic clinic. We're going through the hiring process now, with the applications and such, but have not filled out any W4s or direct deposit stuff. However, as far as I was informed, they're already making scrubs with my name on them, BUT we haven't talked about compensation AT ALL. They know I want the job because why would I go to the interview to just turn it down, especially so because I'm a new grad in the bay area, and this is a lucky break for me, to get an RN job just two months after passing the NCLEX-RN. I also got a call back and interview for tomorrow, at a home health organization. Now I don't know what to do because I don't really know the status of the other one... Even the hours wasn't discussed with me! I know I probably should have brought it up during the interview, but I didn't because I felt it was not the time and place to do so. How do I go about this? Can I just casually shoot an email to the clinic manager? They have a different HR person which I haven't met, and I think she's the one who handles that stuff. I don't know what to do.. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it very much. fireline, rn

Hey there! I was told that when you apply online to big hospitals or health care systems, that there is an automated bot? or program that kicks out your resume if you don't have the necessary keywords. In light of this, do you think it's better if I send in my application through the mail? Some hospitals do give out their Human Resources contact information, while some say they only accept resumes through their online system. Has a new grad (ish) obtained a job through an on line application??? on the flipside, has anyone been successful by applying through the mail? or cold-mailing??? Thank you! fireline, RN

Hello everyone, I've been looking at some sites online (allheart, uniform advantage, etc.) and I can't seem to find the scrub top I want, which is a solid color with two pockets at the bottom. I know Cherokee has them, but I can't find them! At all! and I don't want to pay more than $15 for a top. Should I just get the one's without pockets and put pockets on them? I can sew but idk if I can match the fabric. I'm really picky about the pockets, I need them! Does anybody have any suggestions where they get theirs? I'm a small dude 5'6". Help! fireline, rn

Just being objective here: 4 people, including me. All did the PVT.. 1 person got the Credit Card Page 3 people got the pop-up. the one that got the credit card page did not pass. this is in CA for the NCLEX-RN, in February 2011.

A Home Health Company's owner/head called me, basically saying oh we usually put new grads with peds who need insulin or who have sz d/os and you go to school with them and such.. and I was like oh wow that's nice and i was genuinely excited because it was a callback! anyway, she forwarded me a 26 page application, with the tax forms and an employment agreement form and im thinking, she hasn't even had me come in for an interview, like, really does she want me?? I'm really excited because i live in the bay area, california... and i just graduated in december. and all i really want is a nursing job!!! she told me her HR person was on vacation and needed to play catch up so im hoping to hear from them before the week ends. i really wanna get started on my career we all have worked hard to get at where we are... i'm glad im not too picky...ill take anything except ER... a little too nervewracking. if i get this job its nothing short of a miracle!! Please have me in your thoughts... I want to finally be able to give my parents my first paycheck, doesnt matter how much it is. its from being an RN, and thanking them for everything.... Was your resume more than 1 page???? I do think the CV is a good idea, because highlighting clinical experiences do make you stand out. Did you have RN, BSN Personal Business Cards Printed out? I'm gonna go do that right now!

hey! you're not alone, and there is TONS of HOPE for nurses and student nurses with mental illnesses. I was diagnosed with bp i about 5 months before i started nursing school. i have a genius psychiatrist who got me on meds and relatively stable, and I have been for the past two years. I recently passed the NCLEX-RN, and because I have a BS in Psychology (pre-dx, and before the onset of the bp) I was able to get accepted into a BSN-MSN program. I am mostly dependent on the medication, I tried therapists but they didnt really do anything for me. The nature of the illness is mostly physiological anyway, unlike depressive episodes which can be situational. So our ups and downs can happen at any time, some have triggers.. I believe that I have triggers--everything is a trigger, so basically it nulls itself out. Uhm. What I'm trying to say is that individuals who want to pursue a nursing career (or any other career) should not be discouraged. We're covered by the ADA which is wonderful to think about (sick leave!), and if I cycle and it affects me enough, we can be relocated to a position that best fits us for that amount of time (just like a nurse with a sprained ankle). I have to think of bipolar disorder this way, because a lot of people think that mental illness is just a lack of coping skills, when its not. Get support (family, friends, groups). Use the sxs to your advantage (mild hypomania=efficiency, and a lot of work done!). and just live... :) sending out lots of love, fireline, rn

I looked at the ctc.gov website and the application packet but ut still kind of confuses me. Would anyone out there wanna give me cliffsnotes about it? Yeah, the tiniest things matter nowadays. What happened to just walking in confidently and being given the job on the spot?? I'm in CA and the littlest things count!

I've been looking online and have these two options. The cost doesn't bother me as much as the impression I can make. Do you think its necessary to send the coverletter and resume flat? Is it not professional if its folded? Anybody who worked/works in HR? thanks, fl rn

I'm dropping off my resume at the HR of a hospital. Should I be in business attire? I am not applying for a specific job, i just want them to have a hard copy of my resume because i think that would be helpful. new grad, fireline, rn
