Waiting on Ivy Tech acceptance letters thread

U.S.A. Indiana

I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!

How about introductions and a little info about each person?

I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!

AprilP- thanks for calling Columbus. I have several friends still waiting on letters. I'm glad you called, I will relay that message to them.

Not in! I ended up with 169.5, the lowest number (PN program) was 180 in Terre Haute. For future reference, TH DID keep their word that it was okay to apply without my ANP 2 scores. It didn't appear to do much good though. LOL

I should have been born a TEAS-genius to compensate. = )

Glad I get to hang out here for a bit longer though!

Sorry BlindMouse3! I'm glad you have a + attitude about it! Just hang on there, and keep on trucking!

I am interested in knowing how registration is going to go at orientation. Are they just going to have everyone line up and we all go running, will it be alphabetical, will it be based on points, etc? Any ideas anybody?

Hey Fort Wayner's

I got this info today from someone who said that as long as you can prove that you are signed up for CPR through Ivy Tech before August, they will let you sign up for classes. and i was wondering after i got the email from jewel today why my "advisor" scheduled me an appt at all.

i always feel like nobody there knows whats going on! it just bothers me!

so i broke down today and signed up for the CPR class at ivy tech but its not til july 14th. that makes me nervous! I guess all of the other classes they have are full ALREADY. i hope she knows what she is talking about!

I'll jump in on the "not in" thread. I'm bummed. Turns out I had 187 and needed at least 195. My biggest problem is that I "CLEP"d English 1. Got an A in English 2 at an IU campus, but that doesn't matter. The CLEP counts as a C. I had a B in Anatomy (IU) so ended up with my 4 grades being A, A, B, and C. TEAS was in the 99th percentile. Back in my day I was a National Merit Finalist and I was given advanced standing credit for the 2 English classes. No Indiana schools will accept the advanced standing credits, which is why I chose the route I did.

I guess I'll be enrolling in English 1, but I really feel stupid being a college graduate and sitting in Freshman English! I wonder if it would do any good to petition to use my English 2 grade instead of English 1? *sigh*

Maybe I should just get my stuff together and take statistics and sociology so I'll have all the pre-req's for IUPUI's accelerated BSN... help!!!

I feel your pain! My bachelors is in English and they wouldn't take any of my advanced English courses. I had to take English 111 and I felt so annoyed by it, but we do what we have to do I guess.

Really though, it is ridiculous that a community college won't take advanced English credits from a university. Not that complaining about it will change anything, but the logic of it is absurd.

Now if I could just get them to actually give me credit for my freshman comp, I'd be happy. There is no reason they wouldn't, but I turned in my transcripts in Sept. of last year and they still have not been evaluated for credit. They have been received (I've checked twice) but just never looked at by the powers that be. I want to register for Eng 211 for fall but I can't until I get the credit, which I doubt I will get by the end of Aug. so I'll be stuck taking that class during nursing school because IVY TECH is so fr**gin slow.

csab, I don't know which campus you're having this frustration with, but I had a similar experience with my transfer credits. I finally complained loudly enough (or to the right person) and got the transcripts processed. Then I had one more sent, and it has still not been processed (Fall 2008). The excuse was something to do with a new computer system, and having hundreds of transcripts to process, but it's ridiculous for it to take a year.
