Waiting on Ivy Tech acceptance letters thread

Published

I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!

How about introductions and a little info about each person?

I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post those links mhnice!! I am definitely going to look through those. I feel so much better just knowing I have a couple of options now. How wonderful that you don't have to put your son in daycare - I wish we were able to work something out like that.

My son is almost 2, we will have to have a playdate sometime :wink2:

You're so very welcome. If you guys think I'm OCD about school, I'm sure you can imagine how I am about my son. I am so blessed that I am able to work nights and stay home with him, that my husband has a flexible job, and that my mom was willing to make our son her first priority and change her job around. I am so grateful that he can be at home with us. I know there are great child care places out there, we just couldn't find one! We originally went with an in-home licensed provider. When I was pregnant and met her, we loved her and thought it was a good match...then she became very ill with a pregnancy (we didn't know she was pregnant, it was very early on) and had a substitute caregiver, who we did not mesh well with. She was kind of harsh and I cried every day on my way to work about leaving my three month old with her. One day I just decided enough was enough and I started looking for nontraditional work hours. Thankfully I found my current position which allows me to keep working full time and keep the kiddo at home. Have I told you that I'm so thankful? LOL. I hope the websites help. Good luck and I hope you find someone you trust! And we would love to have a playdate! PM me anytime!!! We're always looking for new friends since we don't get to be around other kids as much as he would if he did go to a day care. Seriously, I'd love to!

Aw, Melissa, you've touched my heart - and I'm crying. (for those who don't yet know me, I don't do that!)

It's been an emotional week. Many of us have been on a rollercoaster, some still are...waiting on "the letter." You know, we all bring different things to the table in this academic journey. In turn, we all leave different things behind in order to fulfill our personal dreams. It won't be easy, but we'll make it! If anything has been proven on this thread, it is that we are determined women!

I'll spare everyone a full bio, but I'm 45 years old and have spent the past 22 years working FT and being a wife and momma. My dh and I devoted most of our free time to our kid's extracurricular school activities. Many parental friendships naturally developed in the process, which have now taken a backseat to academics in our home. (Dh and I both returned to school one week after our baby's hs graduation in 2007!)

Anyway - all that said - I miss those friendships! However, I'm blessed with the opportunity to build even more, especially in this new life chapter. I'm so excited about the next 2 years, and am filled with anticipation to meet each of you in our journey together.

Melissa, thank you for your sweet compliments. I appreciate you and your friendship more than you'll ever know. You'll be a great pediatric nurse!

Here's hoping all those still waiting WILL get their letters tomorrow. Hugs! Goodnight JohnBoy! (OK, do you young'uns even know who JohnBoy is?)

Aw you softie! ;) I hope you know it's true. I love ya!

I just ordered this book from Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0803618948/ref=ox_ya_oh_product

I've been watching ItzCecile's youtube vlog about nursing school and she highly recommends this book so I figured it'd be a good thing to read before school starts. I'll let you guys know how it is!

Nothing from Bloomington in the mail again today. I do hope they get their act together soon though!

Lennonninja - Nothing from Columbus for me today either! Let's look at it this way - we'll DEFINITELY know by this coming week!

Muncie/Anderson came today. At least they got the address right! Did anyone else even apply there? Indy is my first choice, so I am happy to give my Anderson spot up to some other deserving and stressed out student!

(oh, and of course I know who John Boy is...classic!) :)

Seriously, what is the deal with Bloomington? When I looked back at the posts from fall of '08, it looked like most got their letters May 23-28! Not JUNE!!!! Crazy!

Lennon, I would love an email to know when your btown letter comes. I am now afraid that I will miss the dealine to reply. I can't email from here yet, since I am only up to 8 or 9 posts. (not the required 15!) I wonder if you were in any of my classes these past semesters?

You should post enough to get up to 15 then! :D

I've taken most of my classes online, but I took ANP 101 (Spring 08) and Micro 211 (Fall 08) at the Bloomington campus. I took ANP 201 up at the Lawrence campus this past semester.

My Lawrence letter says that I have to reply by like June 19th so I don't think you'll have to worry about missing the reply deadline.

hey xandersmomma! did you take anp102 this last semester? i think i know who you are!!! wow! 217 points is impressive. i am nervous. i only have 207. i am guessing we will have our letters tuesday. i hope so. i am dying here.

Just got my RSN acceptance letter for Fall 09' !
