I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!
How about introductions and a little info about each person?
I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!
Lora, you're hired! LOL - who better to trust than a fellow Nursing student? I think you'll get in though :wink2:
I definitely decided on Nursing because of my family, too (among a million other reasons of course). I couldn't imagine working 5+ days a week...weekends zip by sooo fast, but we really couldn't afford for me not to work either. Plus, I want to be out doing some good in the world!
By the way, if you need suggestions as far as good car mechanics, doctors etc. in the Carmel vicinity, let me know!
Lora, if you do not get in RN but get in LPN, are you going to start? Of course I hope you do get in, but would have liked to have had someone applying in the fall with me!
I called the office today and they said my letter went out on Wed. with everyone elses. The people a couple of houses down have an address that is close to ours and they frequently get our mail. I went down there to ask them if they got anything addressed to me, and they weren't home. My other neighbor was outside, so I mentioned it to her and she went into their mailbox to check and there it was!! I guess it is always good to have a neighbor that will commit a felony for you! :) (Oh and btw, Ivy Tech put the wrong address on my envelope!!!)
I just want to say thank you thank you thank you for all your support, and I promise I am not really this much of a drama queen! You guys are awesome and I cannot wait to meet you all. I say we definately meet up for lunch on the 25th after the meeting.

Just out of curiosity, everyone that has kids - how many and how old are they? What are you doing as far as daycare when the program starts?
I know the daycare thing has been a big concern...I have 3 kids, 11, 6 and almost 4. The 11 and 6 year old go to a school that offers before and aftercare, and my 4 year old will be in pre-school there 3 days a week (she can also use the before and aftercare) The other two days, I have her signed up for another pre-school program and have a neighbor that will help with her when needed. My husband travels for work a lot, so my concern is the clinicals b/c they start so early. I do have a friend that will help me, I just hope it all works out.
As far as daycare goes for your little one, have you talked to friends and neighbors that have young kids? That is what I have done for the past five years is watch my friends kids on a part-time basis. Did you say you are in the Pike area? My Best friend lives near there, and she has watched kids in the past and has three little ones as well. She likes to work part-time and is flexible....She is great with kids, and I would absolutely trust her with mine if I lived closer (I am in Noblesville). I don't know if she has anyone lined up for next fall, but if you are at all interested, send me a PM and I can give you more info and talk to her.

Everyone, I've been watching newRN09's other posts - she states she is an instructor. Many of her posts are pretty negative and abrupt. Maybe she's just not a very good communicator, or maybe she's been through very tough times. Maybe she's a very unhappy person. Perhaps we should all send her some e-encouragement!:luvnltr:
Whether she's a new RN, an instructor, or just a lay person, I'm proud of how everyone has responded to her in a firm yet caring way. Perhaps she has a teachable heart and will take our posts with a good spirit.
You are such an awesome bunch - I am so happy to be a part of this new class of RNs2B!! Congratulations to everyone!!

I finally got my letter yesterday!!! For Indy I got in to the LPN! (I only had a 191? I can't even remember now) I'm going to hold out for Columbus just in case I get an RN spot, but I couldn't be happier either way, I'm just thankful to be in. Who else is joining me as an LPN at Indy? I will be with all of you for awhile,but I can't remember anyone saying the were for LPN. Who else is waiting for Columbus? Congrats to everyone! I'd love to get together! Lets set something up!!

I got my letter today from Evansville!!!!! I'm so exciting. I can't believe I'm going to actually be in the program finally!
