Waiting on Ivy Tech acceptance letters thread

Published

I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!

How about introductions and a little info about each person?

I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!

Okay..so I have lingered here for weeks chewing off my nails and screaming at my hubby :argue: ....oopsie....I have finally realized that they have to get som kind of sick enjoyment out of this torture..at this point I am thinking I would rather be water tortured... AND I got a job offer for a great job..BUT..now idk if I should take it because I will not be able to do their hours w/clinicals..IF I get in...IF I don't it is okay I will just be in a catatonic state and have to be commited. Anyways...it just feels better venting..let me know when you get your letters and i wil ldo the same no matter what the outcome :barf01:

Second Report:

Columbus said they weren't mailing until the 31st of May!?!?! Sunday? Oh well, after this I'm going to need to be hospitalized for my nervous break down.

Wow congrats everyone!!!!

I am not applying until fall, but I took the TEAS today. . . I'm super excited because I got a 96!! I don't mean to brag and I'm sorry if it seems like I am but I'm just so tickled I had to share with someone! I know everyone here understands how much stress and pressure this whole journey is.

CSAB - YOU GO GIRL! :yeah: I'm super glad you aren't my competition! LOL! WAY TO GO!

I just called the indy campus to check when they are mailing and the lady that answered said that they have been on break the last two weeks and wouldn't be back until next Tuesday! She said that she didn't know if they worked on the letters or even looked through the applicants while they are break! What does that mean!! Surely it takes longer that three days to go through the applicants make out the letters, and mail them!!! I'm going to be sick!!! :barf02:

teboz- you are crackin' me up! I would imagine that the administrative assistant has all those applications prepared & sorted, from the top score down to the lowest. I'd bet they'll whip through them in a matter of hours. Now, b-r-e-a-t-h-e..... and just don't think about those lucky ducks that applied to Greencastle! LOL! (In case you are wondering, I've always been better at giving advice than applying it! :lol2: )

Welcome davilynlovesdaniel! Wow, what a decision to be faced with. When do you have to give this prospective employer an answer? What campus(es) did you apply to? Tell us more about you, come on, spill it, girlie! No secrets here! LOL!

Thanks for all the congrats for my teas ladies. Now to just get an A in summer aphy 102.

csab- with that kind of a TEAS score, I'm sure you'll have no problem with ANP102! If you're taking it at Indy, depending on your prof, it is wise to utilize all the open labs you can. I found that was the key to my success. I finished 102 with a 98%, but only got an 86.5 on my TEAS! :wink2:

First off to the person who got a 96 on the TEAS---You are freakin awesome! Second...yeah the job thing really really stinks..I applied for pt and they want me ft. I really think I am going to eat enough chocolate to put me in a sugar coma if all this does not stop soon! I applied to Columbus, Lawrenceburg, and Madison. Oh..to add to the whole thing--I just got done sprinting to my mailbox..(which I am sure that the mailman thanks I am stalking him by now)....and sure enough there was this great big manilla folder from Ivy Tech! My heart was probably tachycardic at that point...so....I ran in the house, threw all of the other mail on the floor dropped my chihuahua on her feet and ripped it open....only to see it was from one of my summer classes...UGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! :imbar

I was also wondering how they found out Columbus wasn't mailing them until then..I thought we were supposed to know on or before the 30th? Are they trying to kill me? It wouldn't be so bad but everyone knows I am waiting and calls me everyday (especially my mom) to see if I have the "great news yet" ..I am like seriously sick to my stomach I want to throw up! Oh..and I have to have my job decision by today at 5!!!!!! I am thinking I deserve some good wine before bed.....lol :imbar

I had an awesome prof. for both..he was so hands on...everyone I know that has him loves him..I think it is a lot easier to have the same prof. for both if possible because then you are already familiarized with the way the conduct test, lectures, etc. I also did a lot of outside study sessions with a girl in my class..it helped me so much to go over everything with someone. He would even let me borrow the dissection specimens to bring home and review with. (not that my husband or kids enjoyed that too much..but I really benifited from it.

Do answer your question on how I found out when Columbus & Indy is mailing...I called and asked. The lady I talked to at indy was just a receptionist. But the lady at columbus was from the nursing office. Sorry I can't remember names for the life of me. I told them that I needed to know because I was leaving on vacation and needed to know the mail date to I could have someone check my mail for me and accept my position if I got accepted while I was still gone. Which is true I'll be gone the first week and a half of June. I didn't realize we had a time limit to accept by.

wow, I go AWOL for a few days, and the number of posts explode!!! CSAB - I am so proud of you! 96! Yay! You are so in come Spring! Congrats to the Greencastle people!

Been busyy this week finishing up the school year (I work in an elementary school clinic), so the week has flown. Now, of course, I will camp by my mailbox waiting .....

Does anyone know of a good phebotomy course in the Indy or Anderson area? I looked into Med Tech. it's very convienent (4 full Saturdays), but it costs $799 ($699 if you pay in full prior to start of the course)

Okay..I could have swore that they said they were going to let us know by the 30th of May..but I believe it.. i just wish I knew what my chances were at least...I applied to the LPN but I know that does not guarantee anything...wonder if I can sleep until the letter comes..lol
