WA Endorsement Process - Longest in the Nation???

Published

Does anyone have any insight as to why Washington State takes SOOO long to endorse a license?  I've been waiting over 6 weeks, and know someone who is still waiting and applied 4 MONTHS ago.  Initially the Department of Health told me 4 weeks.  Once 4 weeks hit they told me 4-6 weeks.  Now that I'm at 6 weeks they told me 8-12 weeks.  Now other people I know in the process have said the DOH won't even give them any time frame.  I have a job offer and have delayed my start date three times because the DOH keeps prolonging the processing times for applications.  I'm starting to worry I'm going to lose the offer if I have to keep postponing.  Anyone have any knowledge into this process?  Anyone else in the process too and waiting?

Sure thing, seems like based on them telling you Monday they were working on 8/10, it's taking a day to a day and a half to process one days worth of applications.  So hopefully by early next week we'll both have it.

Checked this morning and it says I Have a permit but it’s pending. I’m not sure what I’m missing for the permit, they had told me they had everything last I spoke with them. Gonna have to call again.

Called DOH, they said nothing is missing, someone reviewed my app yesterday and sent it for the next step, final approval. She said that’s why not shows pending for my permit. She said the final approval person is backed up too and that process has been taking another FOUR weeks. She said by then my prints will be done and I likely won’t even get a permit my license will just go active. So now I’m looking at not until November. So irritated, going to have to try to push my start date back another month and a half AGAIN and my apartment lease ends where I’m at so now I have no idea what I’m going to do for a living situation where I’m currently at.

I got my temporary permit. They also emailed me to say that my fingerprints are still processing and that’s the hold up. I’m worried now that my prints weren’t good enough quality or something...this is taking foreverrrr. She gave me contact info to check on my prints, so I’ll give it another week and reach out if I don’t have my actual license by then. What a slow process. ?

Apparently there is no rhyme or reason to any of this.  My permit was issued on Monday as "pending" and I was told it would take 4 additional weeks for a supervisor to make it active.  Except a guy who applied a week after me just received his active permit today.  And people who applied before me don't even have a pending permit.  I don't understand any of this, how can it be this convoluted?

I called the background/fingerprint dept and they said they sent back my approved background check in August! That my application should have been in final review back then. Meanwhile the nursing licensing department is saying they’re waiting on my fingerprints/background to come back. Now I have emails out everywhere asking if my stuff got lost in the shuffle.
What a mess ?

Anyone else actually licensed there yet?!

I got my permit a few days ago, no license yet though.

Where do you check to see if your temporary permit has been approved?

When you search your name on the provider credential website it’ll pop up with another line under your pending license that says temporary practice permit.
