Once you get accepted, you'll have to join a website called "MedPass Plus" if they're still using it. I know they've had some problems with it this year. Basically, you'll need a full physical with urine/blood/titer/Tb tests. You'll need to be up to date on all of your immunizations. I had to get a titer done to show I had chicken pox (which I didn't) so I had to get the Varicella vaccine. The acceptance letter will sort of map out exactly what you'll need to do.

The estimated cost per the school for an in-state student is $14,300. This doesn't include cost of living as far as I know. I don't think anyone in my cohort lives on campus. You will do clinicals at several locations-- mainly Baptist and Forsyth. I'm in Peds now and we're at Baptist, Horizons (a school for children with neurological deficits), and a mobile clinic. For the spring, you'll essentially have classes Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8-4:30. At some point you'll add in clinicals which will either be Thursday/Friday, or Saturday/Sunday (6:30am-6:30pm for both). The summer is BY FAR the worst/hardest part of the whole program. Several of us were able to keep working throughout the program depending on the flexibility of your job. In this program you'll have to learn to be VERY flexible because things are usually quite disorganized. I've found that I've mostly taught myself the information that I'm supposed to learn and I'm doing pretty well as of right now. Any other questions?

I'm in the current ABSN class. As far as I know, I only submitted high school, college and pre-req transcripts. I would say most of us aren't CNA's so that didn't matter too much. I went to admissions before applying and asked if I needed to be one and they said no. I think everyone in our class had their pre-reqs finished by the time we applied. As for me, I graduated from UNC in 2011 as an American History major with a 3.0 GPA. I got all A's in my pre-reqs at Forsyth Tech and was accepted right off the bat. We found out in mid-October. Do ya'll have any questions for me?

I STILL can't log in to my email address even though I set it up over a week ago. Anyone else having issues too?

Where did you find your WSSU email address? On your acceptance letter?
-
Wssu absn 2016
I have but it was sort of a tentative acceptance because the university has to see evidence of a background check as well.

Ugh I'm an idiot. I don't know why I couldn't find that code anywhere. There lady at first point said it'll be an easy fix though. Sorry for the confusion.

FirstPoint called me back! Our code is WSGN.

Does anyone know what our school code is for the First Point background check services? I tried calling the registrar and the number listed from the company and received no response from either.

I just went by WSSU to talk to admissions about the online application problems and they said CFNC's and their admissions' IT departments were working together to solve the problem. For me, when I entered "Pre-Nursing Accelerated/Traditional Option" it would auto-correct to "Pre-Nursing RN-BSN Option". I emailed the WSSU admissions office directly and sent in an online application then went by and submitted a paper application as well just to cover all my bases.. I'm a little OCD. Apparently several students have been having the same issue as me. I didn't realize we could apply to WSSU before finding out that we were accepted into the program to speed up the process. Then again, I don't think I would've wanted to spend the $50 application fee without knowing for sure I would go there for the program. Hope everyone else's experience has been easier than mine so far!

Is anyone else's application not allowing them to put Pre-Nursing Accelerated/Traditional as desired major? Mine keeps switching to the RN-BSN option...

I applied! I graduated from UNC in 2011 and finished my prereqs at Forsyth Tech this past year. I wish it was mid October so I could stop stressing over this. I put all of my eggs in the WSSU basket. :-/
