Visa Screen

To all of you that hope to work in the US:

1. Complete Visa Screen paperwork as soon as possible. This will be a requirement starting in July, so think how much busier CGFNS is going to get.

2. Whoever tells you not to worry about English, just go to California and take the NCLEX exam, is 100% wrong. Sure, you can get a license but none of the hospitals are hiring without you being able to pass your English exams. Especially the "Speaking" section. Unless your idea of working in the US is to be doing something other than being a nurse. Plus then you would no longer have 2 years of current work experience.

3. So please keep all of this in mind when you decide to listen to a recruiter. You should come first, not putting money in their pockets. Think of what you really want to be doing....................

4. Finally, in order to get a Visa Screen certificate to take to the Embassy, you must have English skills equivalent to that of a native speaker. It can be done, but you will have to put the time and effort into it.

Good luck to all of you and may you be successful in your goals.

hey lawrence, how about in NM, what is the average processing time for them to send a verification of license to CGFNS? i've been waiting for 2 mos now and there is no update still on my CGFNS account. :o thou im not in a hurry, i just want to make sure everything is in right direction.

You may want to e-mail NM and ask about it or e-mail CGFNS if they have received it. Sometimes, they fail to update their client's accounts even though they already have all the documents.

Ca BRN will forward it directly to ICHP (CGFNS), that't what I know.

I passed the NCLEX RN for california. But when i was applying for visa screen, i'm not sure what to put on the LICENSE INFORMATION part. I don't have my license yet because i need SSN. Should I still place there i'm licensed? On what status?

Do not put you're licensed in the US if you're not. There is a question there asking if you passed NCLEX and that's were you say "yes".

hey lawrence, i got an email from CGFNS, and they said that they havent receive any proof from BON NM that i passed, to think that it's over 60 days (processing time) and they already charged my credit card 2 days after i faxed the form to them... however, I sent an email as well to NM, unfortunately they don't reply and when you call them, a voicemail always answer my call. tough luck!

On the other hand, my friend sent her license verification form to BON CA for her VSC, and she got her status "passed", to think that i applied 2 weeks earlier....

Oh well, i don't know what to do now. maybe, wait... wait... and wait... :o:angryfire:madface::uhoh3:

Is anyone here who applied the VSC a shiftee/transferee from another course?

>under the professional education, must we put the past university we studied in even if we didn't graduate that course or finished it?

>and what do we indicate under 'year graduated' since you didn't finish the course but transfered or shifted.

thank you

I applied for a green card back in July 2007 with so many others. Never thought we would still be waiting nearly 5 years later but it looks like it will still take a few more years. A few years ago I decided to move forward with education and will be graduating August 2012 with my Family Nurse Practitioner here in Arizona. I just received my Visascreen renewal and of course it lists my credentials as a Registered Nurse. Does not seem the Visascreen program includes the Nurse Practitioner role but it does include the Physician Assistant. Does anyone know if anything additional will be required when I start looking for work as an NP in case I need to reapply as my original petition for Green Card was for the RN. I understand when you are an NP you need to keep your RN license active as well as obtain the NP licensure as well. Seems complicated....

Hi All

I am new to this and really need the experts advice. I am a UK nurse who had been given the Authorisation to test for NCLEX in London, unfortunately have just been told as of end of Jan 2012 need to have a social security number or Federal tax number to do the Nclex though Maryland. Does this mean a UK nurse can now not take the NCLEX? Any advice greatly appreciated.

The NCLEX is just an exam, you don't need a SSN to take the test. However you may need one to be issued a license. The best thing would be to take and pass it, then have your exam results transferred to a state that doesn't require a SSN to issue a license.
