Does anyone have any advice on how to make a strong letter of intent for Vanderbilt's Nurse residency program? I know they accept a lot of applicants for each cohort but I'm not sure how many people actually apply and how competetive it actually is. If there is anyone on here that is currently in the program, was previously or knows anyone who has gone through the program, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Angel-RN1,
I am not sure if you will get this message because it's about a month late. You wrote me a message regarding an offer you received from Vanderbilt after being placed on the waitlist. I wanted to Congratulate you on the news. That is fantastic. I just looked on this website because I was curious if someone had received an offer because I declined the position. I am so happy to hear the great news. It seems to have worked out for the both of us. YAY!!!!!!!! Good luck at Vanderbilt. I am sure you will love it.
I got an email Friday that I was accepted for adult critical care after being waitlisted. I don't know what to do now because I accepted a position in the ER back home that pays a lot more. I guess I had forgot about vandy and then whoa... Email! I think I might just take the chance because my heart is in trauma.
hi all, i am a recent new grad and is applying for the vandy Summer cohort 2010 and was wondering what they really look for, and my biggest concern is that they look at your GPAs and mine is very low, it is less than a 3.0. Should i continue to apply for it or should i give up because vandy probably even look at my application. also i have no work experience relating to nursing. i really want to get into the new grad program at vandy. thank you to anyone who reply.
ttl0887,
If you view the NRP website it states that the average GPA they accept is a 3.4. This was the what i had, but i know many other's that had much higher GPAs. You stated that you have no experience in nursing. i was originally put on the waiting list for the program and only got in because there were people that didn't accept the position when they were offered it, and I had a lot of experience. Vandy is extremely competetive. For our cohort they interviewed a little over 200 people and accepted about half. I don't want to discourage you but i would definately try not to get your hopes up and check out other options if you can. It all depends on how you measure up to the other applicants.
Good luck.
Hi everyone. Congrats to all of you who are about to start next week! Is anyone here applying for the July, 2010 Residency? I'm just waiting on one more reference before I can send my packet in. I have no idea where I'll stand compared to the competition, but I figured it's worth a shot for such a good program!
I'm applying! I'm finishing putting everything together tonight, taking it to the career center at my school tomorrow, then hopefully sending it. I'm really nervous about putting it in the mail, but I guess I don't really have a choice. I'm not sure how much of a chance I have at this, but I would be THRILLED if I got it!
I am applying to the program as well. I am waiting on one more recommendation and then I am going to mail it in. I might mail it to my boyfriend (he goes to Vandy) and have him walk it over to the building. I think I might feel better if he actually sees it get into their hands. I hope I get an interview I think it would be an amazing program!
