Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Entry 2021

Published

I noticed there was not a thread created for Vanderbilt pre-specialty nursing for 2021, so I created one. Is anyone already preparing for this upcoming application cycle?

For AG-ACNP, they accepted 19 PreSpecialty students last year vs. direct entry students out of the 50-60 total students they accept for that specialty.

oh awesome! where did you find that info for your specialty? I applied to FNP/Midwifery specialty

It was a question I asked at the virtual open house.

I do not know if anyone has an answer to this but, I took Developmental Psychology like 3 years ago and earned a C...However, I took Human Development this past semester and earned an A. Do you think Vandy will consider that I got an A overall for that requirment?

OK thank you!

Hi everyone,

I just realized I posted in the wrong thread LOL - I posted in Direct Entry. I also applied to PreSpeciality. I have an arts background but am finishing up prerequisites and volunteering while working full-time. I have a masters degree in Arts Admin and currently work in the non-profit sector in NE Ohio. Where is everyone from? I also applied to UVA and will apply to University of Toledo.

This wait is going to kill me!

I feel like this is a dumb question but how do you know if you applied as pre specialty or direct entry? Isn't it all the same application? I remember filling my application out but not seeing an option for the pre-specialty track in the application so I chose my specialty and applied for MSN assuming they would see my qualifications. I might ask admissions because all of these forums are confusing me now

There was a section that asked if you were applying as a Registered Nurse and if not, what degree you were entering with.

They have links that direct you the program you fit best into based on your nursing or non nursing experience. These are helpful!

Do you guys think it's worth applying to still? I can get my app completed by the end of the week, but don't want to put in the effort if I won't be considered since its after the priority deadline...

I’m open house they said they still highly recommend people apply even after priority deadline.

Dear current Vandy students filtering the chat, what was the format for lecture, lab, and clinicals for the fall of 2020 and Spring 2021? Online, in-person required, either as an opt-in, etc?

What is the expected format for next fall or if we’re not sure yet, what date will we know more? I am trying to figure out if it is necessary to move to Nashville during the prespecialty year and how students this year handled it with the pandemic.
