Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Entry 2021

Published

I noticed there was not a thread created for Vanderbilt pre-specialty nursing for 2021, so I created one. Is anyone already preparing for this upcoming application cycle?

@futurefnpvandy thanks for your note. I am currently on the waitlist. Is it OK if I PM you a couple of questions about the waitlist?!

! Congrats! Hoping to get pulled off the wait list for the same thing.  When did you originally submit your application?

@Resa Lucas I submitted it in early October.

Hi there, some questions for any current Nurse Corps Scholarship or NHSC Scholarship recipients at VUSN:

1) What date were you notified that you received the award? The program guidance states notification is no later than 9/30/21 I am just curious how early we can expect to be notified.

2) I see that the first stipend payment is deposited in November. Did you pay for tuition with loans and have the loan canceled once you were notified of the award? Similarly, did you pay out of pocket for housing expenses from August-November? In general what does that process look like as far as applying for loans while waiting to be notified of the award?

3) If you are planning to continue for a DNP degree at Vanderbilt, can you extend the service commitment and continue having them cover tuition+stipend by request if funds are available, or would you need to reapply?

Thank you!

Hello guys

I also came to know I got admitted in the full time FNP program at vanderbilt  as an OMTA student.

Is there anyone on here from CA also doing the OMTA?

Hi! I just wanted to encourage you guys since I was obsessively monitoring the 2020 forum when applying to the program last year. I was initially waitlisted in 2020, and then got pulled from the waitlist in June and accepted the offer. I have absolutely 0 regrets about coming to Vandy, and have had a really great experience.

So, if you get waitlisted, don't lose hope! And if you were already accepted, congratulations and feel free to reach out if you have any questions ?

Hi is there any way I can connect with you or send you PM just to get more information about the program!!

Thanks

That's fantastic! How is it?

I was waitlisted and I believe (and hoping it's only this) it is because I made a mistake on my application. When I started the process I wanted to pursue NM/FNP but realized I really only want to be a midwife (and someday educator) but wasn't able to change this on the drop-down box on the application after I had completed more than half of it. I don't know why I didn't reach out and ask them how to change it, in my mind, I was just thinking oh when I get accepted I will just tell them. Not thinking that my essays and everything point to my pursuit to become a midwife and nothing about FNP. So of course the director of the FNP program was probably like nah ?. I emailed the department and told them of my mistake and the director of the NM program knows, but I am still waiting and hoping. ?
