Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Entry 2021

Published

I noticed there was not a thread created for Vanderbilt pre-specialty nursing for 2021, so I created one. Is anyone already preparing for this upcoming application cycle?

Yes very interesting thanks for sharing. If definitley says the 8% increase is people with BSNs already. I could imagine Covid is driving a lot of very burnt out and under-appreciated (in some communities) RNs to choose now make the transition to advanced practice.

I will say, I also applied to Yale’s direct entry program for people with non-nursing bachelors, and interview decisions came out a little late due to a “high number of applicants.” I have a feeling a decent number of people who applied last year may have turned down their seats due to Covid and are reapplying now, making aN usually large applicant pool. Just a hunch, no data to back it up ?

Happy holidays all!

Quick question - does anyone know whether a "human development through the lifespan" course will satisfy the "developmental psychology" prereq?

Thanks! That's what I thought. Vandy is the only school I've applied to that requires it, so I'm thinking of putting it off until Summer, so I'll be sure I need it (these prereqs add up fast). But I'm also nervous to leave it until last minute. ?

Got this via email :

Thank you for submitting your fall 2021 application. Applications completed by October 15 were eligible for priority review. Since your application completed after October 15, your application will be sent for faculty review in the rolling admissions group.

We anticipate that rolling admission decisions will begin to be released in late March and will continue to be released until all spaces are full. You will not see any further updates on your application page until a decision is released. Your decision will be sent to the email address listed on your application.

https://nursing.vanderbilt.edu/MSN/profile.php

Link gives an idea of how many have other degrees aka a number for prespecialty, but that would be total for all the specialties I think!

How does everybody feel right now?!
