Hello everyone! My name is Dustin and I am looking to apply to Vanderbilt's critical care nurse residency track. Specifically CVICU. I thought it would be a good idea to start this forum as applicants can come together to discuss about the application/hiring process and to assist each other.
Applications open in a few short days (July 2nd)!
I looked forward to speaking with you all!
Hey! How is your experience with Vandy? Is the experience worth the lower pay?
I haven't started yet actually! My start date is October 15. What I will say is that they are an extremely professional organization and their new grad program runs like a well-oiled machine. They've had several cohorts and they hire for both the adult and peds hospitals at the same time, so it keeps things very organized. The HR department and leadership have been very pleasant and flexible to work with. I'm not sure what the pay increase schedule looks like but if you spend your two years there and decide you don't like it, you should be able to obtain a job pretty much anywhere you want!
I will say that the rent is SO much less expensive to live in the city than you might find elsewhere, and the city of Nashville has an endless amount of things to do. The apartment complexes are very nice and the city loves Vandy employees!
It's obviously a personal choice if you would like to accept the offer, but when I thought about the experience I would be getting and lower cost of living, it made it worth it for me. Plus the differentials are quite generous compared to what I've seen from other hospitals :)
Hey y'all! My name is Anna and I'm in a 5 semester BSN program in NC & currently in my 4th semester. Vandy, Georgetown Medstar and Hopkins are my top choices for nurse residency programs post graduation (particularly their CVICU/CVSICUs) and I noticed a few of you mentioned that was the area you were interested in as well. I was wondering if you guys could share any deets about how the application process went for you// any advice you have for me going into my last semester? I currently work as a tech in a M/S ICU & have been working here for two years, so I'm hoping that will be helpful when applying (having been heavily exposed to vented patients on numerous pressors, therapies, etc). Honestly any and all info you have for me will be SO helpful and appreciated! Thanks so much in advance and congrats to everyone who received offers. You are all going to be great nurses :))))

The pay they send you is without shift differential, you can see my earlier reply with the differentials currently offered to nurses :)
