    Army AMEDD DCC 2021

Yeah, I’m prior enlisted so I know how long the Army usually takes by getting things done, but I didn’t think it would take this long! The only reason why I’m needing a second physical is because my recruiter messed up on a document for my first one 🙄.. I have heard that usually the wait is 6 months after commissioning... it might not be until next year before they cut my orders to attend training. 🤢🤮

    Denver Health Review

Hello, I am interviewing with the ED at Denver Health soon. Are there any nurses who have worked there and could give me an insight on how it is to work for that hospital? Thanks in advance!

That was just what I was told. A friend of mine tried to join as a 66H with ONLY oncology infusion experience and his CV was denied for not actually having med surge experience. Exactly why I said to just contact a recruiter.

From my understanding, to Direct Commission the Army is not looking for experience in a nursing home setting. To be a med-surge nurse you must have at least 1-2 years experience on a med-surge floor.

Hey man, good people mess up sometimes. I had to get a moral waiver myself for an arrest back when I was 17 (I had to get the same waiver when I enlisted in 2011). Don’t give up! My goal is to serve again, but if I can’t, I want to at least try every avenue so I won’t live in regret when I am older. Maybe go back to school for CRNA, ACNP, or PA and let some time pass and reapply. It sounds like you’ve got great experience and education. Stay healthy and away from the wrong side of the law and I am sure you’ll be able to get in at a later time.

I’m so sorry to hear that... what was your waiver for? Have you looked into the Air Force and Navy? If you start now, you’ll be able to send a packet to the September Air Force boards.

    Airforce October 2020

You only need a year to apply, but 2 years will make you competitive. By the time the board meets I will have about 1 year and 10 months of experience and will have just over 2 years when I would leave for training. Apparently the board will weigh in the time you'll have before shipping off. You can apply to both ICU and Flight at the same time and the board will choose which position you fit best.

    Airforce October 2020

I am contemplating on applying to the October boards. I just went through the process with the Army and submitted a packet to the April boards but was placed on the OML. If I don’t get pulled from the OML before the new fiscal year in October, I’ll have to reboard... I am a RN at a large Medical Center in a Cardiothoracic and Transplant ICU with 1.5 years of experience. I am also an eight year prior enlisted applicant. Thankfully I’ll be able to use my Army commissioning physical for the Air Force so I wouldn’t have to go through that mess again haha. Anyone else applying for ICU and/or Flight nurse?

Awesome! Hopefully mine will go smooth as well haha. I am from Texas.

    FY2020 Army Nurse Corps

Update: I am awaiting a Commander's Interview for a moral waiver I had to get for an incident I had when I was 17 (I previously had to get a moral waiver for the same thing when I enlisted almost 10 years ago). My recruiter said that the results of the board are out, but I am in a "pending" status until my waiver is approved. Does this mean I have been selected and just waiting for this to pass?

Did you have to get this approved by your command?

Haha I have heard this before! I come from an ICU at BUMC and was considering doing moonlight shifts at a civilian hospital once a week just to keep my skills up.

Does anyone know how bad the Army is in need of 66S? I saw that right now there is a $100K bonus. Unfortunately, I do not qualify for the bonus due to me being out of the military less than 24 months.

Ahh okay so it sounds like when I got my enlistment physical in 2011. I thought that maybe the commissioning physical was different. Thank you for the information!

RN to Army Medic or LPN

Hahaha I was actually thinking about option 40 and going through the SOCM course. I’m prior combat arms so it’ll be a good way to combine that experience with my medical experience. You’re not a tool at all! Lol

I’m trying to go active duty. I flirted with the idea of the reserve, but the experience requirement is the same.
