Hello everyone! My name is Dustin and I am looking to apply to Vanderbilt's critical care nurse residency track. Specifically CVICU. I thought it would be a good idea to start this forum as applicants can come together to discuss about the application/hiring process and to assist each other.
Applications open in a few short days (July 2nd)!
I looked forward to speaking with you all!
Sent in my application yesterday! Now I am just waiting for the packet to be sent to me í ½í¸ƒ

Hi Dustin! I am also about to submit my application to the 2019 Vanderbilt Nurse Residency program after I make some final edits to my resume! I am interested in the ED and currently trying to decide on a second track to apply for.
Hey, jwa95! That is awesome! I received the second portion of the packet yesterday. Everything is completed excepted for the reference portion. It only allowed me to select one track, I did not know we had the option to pick 2?
Haha sorry I just realized that I was confusing this application with the MUSC application (that's the one with 2 selection choices).
Good luck!!
Ohhh okay! Haha. I was looking into MUSC but couldn't find much on their nurse residency.
Good luck to you as well!
Packet has been fully submitted!

I'm trying to decide between the medical track or the oncology track! I am in a three semester program as opposed to four semester, so I'm happy applying at the end of second semester doesn't count too much against me. In terms of clinicals, I will have community health, complex care (ICU/ED), and my immersion left in the fall.
Those are good tracks to consider! I am finishing up a 5 semester track at the moment. Oncology is a good specialty to get into. My school offered an Oncology elective and I loved it! The nurses on the units loved what they did and a lot of their patients came back to see them even though they were finished with treatment! Very rewarding career for sure.
5 semester program**
Yeah in the medical track I'd prefer the palliative care unit, but I don't know how much those preferences get taken into consideration!
Maybe if you chose that route and you put it in your letter of intent, they would consider putting you in a palliative care slot?
