Figured I'd start a thread for those of us applying to the Vandy nurse residency program for 2011 to share thoughts, feelings, questions and to network with eachother a bit.
I'm Duluth! I'm a new grad with a previous degree in Biology. I'm applying for the Adult Critical Care track, with hopes of matching to Trauma or Emergency Services.
I have a friend who lives in West nashville and says the same, much safer but a bit pricey. Its closest to vanderbilt.
Are you accepting the offer??!
I have an interview at Georgetown next week. I am a little worried about the pay scale at Vanderbilt but from what I have heard the residency is top notch. Also, for me, I know I did not go into nursing for what I will/won't get paid.
What are your thoughts?
I am def accepting the offer. Even though the pay isn't as high as other hospitals, the experience is worth it. They have great benefits and they really seem to invest a lot and care about their employees. And their shift differentials are a lot more than other hospitals. I just think that overall Vanderbilt is the best place that someone could start their career at. Not to mention Nashville is such a fun town!
Got my acceptance letter into adult critical care, and I'm taking it! Can't wait to start my career and move out to the south. It's a long ways from here (from Utah), but it's gonna' be terrific.
Yeah, keep me in the loop about good places to live. I got an "Apartment Finder" guide while I was there. I figured the low prices of East Nashville had a catch. I'll shoot for the west. Any other places that are good?
Turned down for adult medical. Now I wish I'd applied to ANY other residency program, lol. I am not worried about getting an RN job, but the prospect of being unemployed and having to wait until I get a license (probably 8 weeks after graduation at least) is daunting and will put more stress on my husband. Plus I really liked Vanderbilt and Nashville! Oh well.
