The application for the Vanderbilt nurse residency for February 2015 will open in August. Who all is applying? Does anyone have advice for those of us who will be applying?
You're very right. Let me just say, because I do not want to give anyone the wrong impression, that I am absolutely thrilled about the possibility of being offered a position at Vanderbilt. I know that it would be a life-changing experience. I'm certainly NOT going to commit to any jobs before hearing one way or another from VUMC as that truly is my goal at this point.

I completely agree! It has been my dream to live in Nashville and work at Vanderbilt for a long time now. I just wanted to share my predicament with y'all.
Can I just say that I would be careful what some of you post on here? You never know if a manager or a recruiter is reading this thread and some of your user names would make it easy to correlate to your real life self. Beware that everything you post on social media is trackable and can be held against you.
True. But the wait really is unreasonable. If they want someone who's going to sit around patiently and do nothing, that's not me. I'm a go-getter, a worker bee, ambitious. If a recruiter sees this, I hope that's the impression I give.
I don't know if this has been stated, but just in case. I spoke with them at the interview and this is what they said regarding the timeline. As of today they should be contacting the several departments that did interviews and find out the exact number of hires they will take on for each unit. Then they will develop hiring committees for each unit and go over all the applications and make final decisions. The biggest issue is getting all the information back from all the units. So I can imagine the biggest challenge is having everyone meet and getting final decisions on the number of new grads they want to take on. Plus you have Thanksgiving at the end of the month. My interview was early in October....so I am just glad that all interviews are finally over and I know that the next step is finally here.
I don't know how all of you have been waiting for so long! I just interviewed on Friday and I'm so anxious to hear back! I can't imagine how some of you feel! Anyways, I asked them how many people they chose last year for their departments and they said anywhere from 2-5 for the different critical care units. They also said there's a good chance we'll hear before the 1st!
