The application for the Vanderbilt nurse residency for February 2015 will open in August. Who all is applying? Does anyone have advice for those of us who will be applying?

I'm so happy to have found this thread. I got my email today about interviewing for the NICU tract and am SOO excited. I'm in a similar boat it seems to some of you in that I don't live near the Nashville area (southern California for me) and am figuring out if its worth it to dip into my budget to have an interview out there. Any idea if previous applicants were successful interviewing just by Skype?

I know of a few who opted for the skype interview in the past few years and were offered. I think they understand that most of the applicants are neck deep in their last semester and simply cannot miss the clinical time to fly out so that is why they give the option. I would think there are probably more people than we think who opt for the skype route.

I'm so excited I just found this thread ! I got an email for the women's heath track. I'm from nj and am going to fly down for my interview but I think a handful of people are definitely going to skype interview.

So glad I found this thread also. I got an email to interview for the NICU and am so excited. I'm in the same situation as some of you and am debating whether to fly out or skype (I'm from Southern California).

I'm driving. I've graduated, so it's not like clinical time is in my way. I just hope to set my date soon so I'm not sleeping in my car! Yes Craig, e-mail is how we set the date.

Congratulations everyone! So glad to meet you here! I don`t know how much time we have until we have to respond to the e-mail with our interview preferences, I am having a hard time deciding what option to choose, I am leaning towards skype although I would love to be able to tour the units and shake hands with the people who interview me :)

Well I wasn't selected for women's health, but with no work, volunteer or leadership experience in the last 6 months, I didn't really expect to be. I was, however, selected for an interview in the adult acute care track. I accepted a position in the CCU at another hospital and start next week, though, so I will not be accepting the interview. Good luck to everyone! :-)
