I received the email, but when I tried to look it up on Facebook it doesn't show up.

I ended up declining my Adult Acute Progressive Track position as well to accept a position on a Labor & Delivery unit! Congrats to everyone starting up in a few months, you all will make great nurses!

Hey! So I didn't get the Facebook page invitation via email and I'm having the hardest time finding it by searching "Summer 2016 VUMC Nurse Residency Program." To those who have found it, can you offer some advice or even post the link to the page?? thank you!!

I also can't find the Facebook group and haven't been invited. Did you ever find it, Chrisara?

You should have gotten a link to it in the email today.

That is so awesome! I am applying for PICU for the Fall cohort. If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA? I have a 3.6 with a lot of volunteer experience and I am very worried.

From everyone I know who did or didn't get in, GPA isn't as important as you might think (although obviously the higher the better can only help.) Whatever their algorithm is, it's quite interesting, and I think it really comes down to the interview and your prior clinical experiences more than anything else. I would study up on the behavioral interview style as much as you can, and try to get any extra hospital/clinical experiences outside of school if possible. All just my two cents, but good luck!

Any of you know how many spots there are for the neuro icu? Also what is the average monthly rent? $800?

Anyone hear get a spot in the cardiac PICU? I interviewed for Fall 2016 and am anxiously waiting an offer! Congrats everyone!

Hey there! I am applying for the Vanderbilt residency program for summer 2017! I am from Tallahassee, Florida and I attend Florida State University's BSN program! I was wondering if any of you had any advice about the interviews? And those of you who have been offered a position, what were your stats? GPA, leadership experience, etc. Thanks so much!

Hi guys! Just found this thread, so I'm wayyyy late to the party. I got accepted for the NICU track and can't wait to get started! Anxious to get going and learn more about our schedules/orientation/etc...

Hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer freedom! :)

Hi Shanneliz! Thought I could offer my two cents on my experience getting accepted at Vanderbilt! I had a 3.5 GPA overall, but a 3.85 nursing course GPA, which my school differentiated out on our official transcripts. I'm also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, which is the international nursing honors society. I really didn't have any leadership experience, but I have worked for several years in a healthcare related position. I think I wrote a really sincere letter of intent explaining my desire to be a NICU nurse, and I studied a ton of information on behavioral interviews beforehand, which helped me feel more prepared. The actual interview was still tough, but I at least wasn't blindsided by the types of questions they asked. I would recommend getting any healthcare experience outside of school that you can, attempting to get your senior preceptorship in your desired unit if possible (although I wasn't able to get NICU, I did do women's health/L&D,) studying behavioral interviewing, and more than anything, be yourself and let your passion for your desired specialty really show!

Best of luck, and I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have :)

newbienurse11, Thank you so much for your feedback! I am applying for a critical care track, preferably CVICU or surgical ICU. My GPA is a 3.45 overall currently but I still have two semesters of nursing school left! I work in a hospital operating room as a nurse extern, so hopefully that will look good on my application. I will definitely look up those behavioral interviews! I am going to completely prepare myself for that. I just hope I get the chance for an interview! I am going to try to get into a surgical ICU on my preceptor shift! That unfortunately does not happen until the spring! Again, thank you so much and good luck! :)

Congrats to all who were accepted! I am a current RN 2 here at Vanderbilt. Welcome to the Vandy family!

Those of you who have started this program/cohort last summer, any updates about how the residency program is going? Are you liking the structure and organization? Training? Are most of you on night shift? Thanks for the feedback!

Those of you who have started the residency, what are your thoughts? How have you liked the program thus far? Clinical exposure, mentorship, clinical opportunities, growth, camaraderie amongst your colleagues? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I just received a call that I'm on the waitlist for the summer 2018 program. Those who were waitlisted for an interview - how soon did you find out if you received an interview? Did they let you know if you didn't?
