Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Summer 2016

Published

Hello! I was wondering if anyone was thinking about applying for Vanderbilt's nurse residency program for summer 2016. For those who have applied to other terms or gone through the residency: any advice?!

I had my interview recently. It was the most positive interview experience I've ever had. They are so friendly and really care about their applicants. The questions were somewhat challenging, but practicing the behavioral style questions beforehand helped me a lot.

Now to wait! Does May 1st seem incredibly far away, or what? Haha.

I Interviewed for the Operating Room! Anyone else interview for the O.R? Can't wait to hear back :)

Specializes in BSN, SRNA.

Today should be the last day of interviews. Hopefully they'll start calling people soon.

I was thinking about this too! How the countdown clock technically starts today haha. Hoping it'll be sooner rather than later!

I know this has already been asked but does anyone know the pay for the residents?

HAHA, my countdown has been on for a while now. I have 8 days left in school and 24 until graduation. Getting a call from Vanderbilt would be icing on the cake!

From looking at threads from past cohorts (Winter 16, Summer 15), it looks like the base pay is $21.80, with shift differential:

$6.00 on weekends, $3.00 on evenings, and $3.50 on nights. I've heard that's pretty much in line with what new nurses make at other hospitals in middle TN.

I believe critical care/ED has a differential of about $1/hour, but I could be incorrect.

That's correct.

Hey there! Just found this thread and am excited to hear back. I applied and interviewed for the women's health track. Anyone else out there interview for women's health. May 1st is right around the corner. I will also be looking for a roommate(s) if anyone is interested. Good luck to all!

Coming up on one week since the "real" waiting period began...would be amazing if we could hear back within another week/week and a half, but I'm guessing that may be a stretch! I just really hope we know before May 1st! Waiting for major decisions about your future is hard haha. Anyone else feeling more and more anxious as we get closer?

Yes! I felt so good after the interview and as time goes by I just keep questioning everything... Fingers crossed we here soon!
