Vanderbilt MSN 2020

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Updated:   Published

I just attended Vanderbilt's fall open house for the 2020 year and I'm really excited to be applying! I'm hoping to connect with other Vandey applicants so we can offer support and info along this process. I am applying to the post BSN dual CNM/ FNP program.

I also applied after deadline to the same specialty. I have not heard anything. I wouldn't stress too much about not hearing anything/worry it means anything- with everything that happened in Tennessee and with the virus, probably best to just be patient.

Thanks! You are absolutely right.

Hi all! I’m currently in the MSN program at Vandy. This is my first semester in, and I remember how anxious I was about the application process.

I can say that we did not get our decisions until the 22nd of February.

I'm currently in an ABSN program and I'd like to apply to this upcoing cycle (before November 2020). Any advice on how I can be a good applicant for the PMHNP program?

My grades are high and I have volunteered with psych patients. Are they looking for shadowing experiences or other things as well? Thank you

Hello!

I received my acceptance letter today for AGPC/WH. I'm outside MTA status, and really cannot find any information on student experiences with clinical placement/general program experience. From reading through this forum, it sounds like most everyone is talking about being accepted locally in Nashville?

If anyone can provide any insight to their experience not attending in the "MTA", that would be great!

Thanks!

CONGRATS on the acceptance! Would you mind sharing your stats (like years of psych experience, GPA, etc.)? Thanks

Hi everyone,

I just got my wait list notification for the FNP program outside of MTA. I submitted my application waaaaayyyyy after the priority deadline, so it appears they are finally working their way through late applications. Good luck to all!

Hello! I hope everyone is staying healthy & safe during this Coronavirus pandemic.

I was waitlisted in February and found out yesterday (4/1) that I was moved up & accepted into the FNP program (2 year track; outside of MTA). ? I'm very happy, but also a little overwhelmed with the potential travel costs that are required for this program.

I had also applied to an online BSN program. When I found out I was waitlisted at Vanderbilt, I decided to start that program so that I wouldn't waste any time. ? Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do. The online BSN is very affordable for me & given the current financial hardship that this virus has caused, I'd like to save as much as possible. I'm curious if Vanderbilt would allow me to begin during the specialty year, so that I can finish this BSN program.

Looking forward to get to know all of you!

How (if at all) do you all think the pandemic will affect us in the fall, specifically clinicals and block schedules?

I’m currently in the program now (AGPCNP) and clinicals have restarted (so long as your clinical site allows). I’m not sure about block, but I do not see the May Block happening and we did not have March as planned. They have been great about creating virtual means of interaction.

Ah that's amazing! I was waitlisted in February too and I'm hoping to hear back soon and get off the waitlist for pre-specialty FNP. It's my dream program and I live right here so it would be the best! I would reach out to admissions and ask them! They have been really good and quick with answering all of my questions and they have been incredibly helpful! If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats?

Do any of you know of a MSN student that completed the program out of state? I'm really curious about the experiences of those students. I read in the Vanderbilt MSN 2019 thread that the program is very rigorous for students that are local, so I can't really imagine what it must be like for students living outside of Tennessee.
