Hi! I'm starting a thread for Fall 2019. Anyone else applying/re-applying too? Please comment!

Does anyone know the acceptance rates of the last few years?

Got an email from admissions saying that due to the sheer volume of PMHNP applicants this year that reviewing of applications alone may go well into March...very frustrating. Not sure what that means as far as decisions.

No, they do not.

Hmmm. I didn’t get this email. Did you already have a phone interview?

No, they emailed me directly concerning my question about the phone interviews. I turned in my application well before the priority deadline and have yet to hear anything at all about phone interviews (as a PMHNP applicant). They just keep saying that applications may go on being under review into March.

Yeah that makes sense. They only accept 50 people into the program and that includes direct entry and prespecialty. And they’ve already had over 100 interviews. I counted the slots for interview times haha. But it is frustrating. It would be nice to know whether we have a chance or not.

I just wish I knew if they were reviewing the applications based on when they were submitted or not....

I believe that they applications are reviewed based on when you submitted. I pretty sure that was either stated on the admissions website or the application page.

Thanks for sharing, HermioneNurse! I guess this means that getting an interview is no guarantee of acceptance or is it? Now I feel I definitely have to bring my A game tomorrow.

Admissions says that they have not even begun to review applications that were turned in after the Nov. 1st deadline for PMHNP. They think that the surge in applicants is because they waved the GRE requirement this year.

Hi all,

I just finished my PMHNP interview and I must say that I do not feel confident at all that I'm going to get in. I was told straight up that competition is stiff especially for pre-specialty applicants. They went on to talk about how large the applicant pool is and how there are a lot of strong candidates. They said they do not know how things will end up for me but that if I don't get in to think about getting a BSN and reapply as direct-entry. Apparently, is it a lot easier to get in as a direct-entry applicant. Long story short having an interview does not necessarily mean you are likely to get accepted. ?

P.S. - Good luck to those who have interviewed and for those still waiting to hear back.

Sorry to hear the interview didn't go as you expected. Maybe they are just trying to keep a poker face. I know a few people who have been admitted to their program of choice even though their interviews were not as welcoming/promising as they expected them to be. Did they ask you questions about yourself or were they just discussing how difficult it is to get into the program?
