Hi! I'm starting a thread for Fall 2019. Anyone else applying/re-applying too? Please comment!

Sorry to hear the interview didn't go as you expected. Maybe they are just trying to keep a poker face. I know a few people who have been admitted to their program of choice even though their interviews were not as welcoming/promising as they expected them to be. Did they ask you questions about yourself or were they just discussing how difficult it is to get into the program?

Thanks, VwBee89. Overall, the interview went well. They gave me positive feedback and talked about how they can see how my personal and professional experience as a licensed clinical social worker was a natural progression to PMHNP. The questions were easy enough. I just did not like how the majority of the interview consisted of them telling me how hard of a decision they had ahead of them, that they did not know if I would get in or not, and the fact that they called off a list of schools that had accelerated BSN programs "in the event I did not get in".

LCSWtoPMHNP it sounds like your work experience would make you an excellent PMHNP! It is weird that they listed off different accelerated BSN programs but I do think sometimes you can get an interviewer that is not tactful. Either way I wish you best!

Wow I’m so sorry to hear that. But keep your head up. I was in your shoes at some point and I ended up having to get an accelerated nursing lisence and come back as a direct entry student. You’re an amazing candidate. Just believe that you will do great things. The PMHNP faculty are pretty straight up with how they word things at the end up the interview. You still have time to apply to some accelerated programs. Take advantage of that. Idk if you’re open to moving to Georgia but i went to Kennesaw state university and their program was pretty good. Also i heard union in Tennessee was also a good program

From past years, the PMHNP staff want the best for you regardless of whether or not you are accepted. They seem pretty transparent in letting you know whether you have a chance or not.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I agree...It felt weird and made me feel that I did not get in. I wasn't expecting to hear them say that they do not know if I will or will not get in. I'm not as hopefully as before but will review my options after receiving the outcome mid-February.

Hey GeorgiaNurse2018! I appreciate you staying positive. I'm not totally against an accelerated nursing program just don't know if I will have the momentum to keep going after completion of a BSN degree. I already have student loan debt from my previous degrees and thinking of obtaining a BSN and then MSN is overwhelming. If you don't mind me asking how was your experience in your BSN program?

Yes of course! My program was 16 months. Cost about 15k. I was able to work 20-30 hours a week during the program except for the summer session. For the most part it wasn’t too hard. Sometimes it got overwhelming but it wasn’t not doable and i finished with a 3.5 while working. Do you have any specific questions?

Yes. How long ago did you graduate? Do you currently work as a RN? Or do you work in your previous profession?

Oh wow, congrats and how exciting! ? It's nice to hear that you got a job right after graduating.

I felt relatively confident after submitting my application in October, but the closer to February we get & hearing about the increase of applications is making me super nervous --especially being a pre-specialty student finishing my undergrad in May. I wish they at least released denials in rounds earlier, so it gave us some idea where we stood ?

Thanks! It’s very easy to find a job with a BSN. I had many options.
