For prospective applicants for the 2017 year in the program. Being as I am currently wait listed in the 2016 year due to a very late application, there is a high probability I would have to apply again come November 1st 2016 for the following year acceptance.

November 1st, 2016 is the priority application deadline for the 2017 year. All materials (GRE, official transcripts, application payment, letters of recommendation, statement of intent) must have been submitted by this date.

Letters of acceptance for August 2016 orientation and start were sent out the first week of February 2016. Wait listed recipients received their wait list offer in an around the first week of March 2016 with the caveat that seats may open well into late July.

Maybe I should look back in the thread but has any one applying to the FNP specialty heard anything?

FNP does not interview, so you most likely won't hear anything until admission letters are sent out.

Hi All!

I applied for the pre specialty pediatric NP primary care specialty. Does anyone know if this specialty does interviews?

I think all PMHNP (potential) students get interviews but not all PMHNP applicants. That's the impression that I am under at least. I was told by an alumni of the program that it is a very good sign if you get an interview. But I am sure, each year, they do things differently. I'm just waiting with my fingers crossed. :geek:

I applied for the peds primary np and just received my email to interview yesterday. So maybe they're still sending them out?

@embug24- thanks for the info! Good luck on your interview!

I submitted my app a few weeks after the Nov 1st deadline due to not being able to take the GRE until Nov 17 (I had just returned from my Peace Corps service). Im hoping this doesn't affect my application! Im pretty sure my application won't be reviewed until all those who got them in by Nov 1st are done :/ Anyone else here who submitted theirs after the priority date?

I know this question has been asked previously, but does anyone know how many students are interviewed vs how many are accepted?? I'm feeling more and more nervous as Feb approaches! Good luck to everyone :)

Neurograd my PMHNP interviewers didn't say really anything about chances. From the way the interview invitation was written (vs. how other programs did it) and info from past threads, I'm echoing that it's probably a really good sign that we made the "first cut"... I asked if they had any reservations about my qualifications/ability to succeed in the program etc etc that I could speak to, and they said that they were confident I'd do well. I think that just means as part of the first cut, they think I'm highly qualified?? Don't want to read too much into it- I'm trying to keep my hopes very, very low, just in case. But that's all the info I have!

binkmink13 I'm right there with you. My interviewers also said I had a strong application and should receive a letter of acceptance, but that's just two of (what I'm guessing) many people who make the final decision. I wish time would fly by a little faster.. I'm hoping we hear early in Feb instead of a little less than a month from now.

My VUSN interview conversation with two faculty members for PMHNP went very well; they had obviously studied my application. They even knew my GRE scores. There were some rote questions about what the role of the NP exactly is in this field.--I had memorized those. They wanted to know how I handled stress, why exactly I would want to work in psych and what patient population interests me. They offered lots of encouragement -ie: how the year will unfold, what are the hardest courses and how enjoyable the clinical placements will be. I came away with the notion that early February is the probable acceptance letter time. We only have a few more tense weeks to wait ! I hope they liked me, I certainly took a chance and divulged my personality in addition to answering with the cold hard facts.

I interviewed today for peds primary care, and all in all it went well. She told me that unfortunately there weren't going to be any available preceptorships in Nashville; did anyone else hear something similar that applied for peds primary care np? And if so where are you going to live and do your preceptorships? She also said that letters would go out early March.

Has anyone heard a date for when decisions will be released? Specifically for PMHNP.

The lady who interviewed me said the first week of March.
