Vanderbilt MSN 2016

Published

I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.

Glad to hear your interview went well, MidwifeMinded! Sounds like you did a great job. Hope you hear back very soon and we can all be embarking on this journey together in the fall!

Thanks so much!

for interviews, did everyone receive phone calls for psych preSpecialty track? I was out of the country for a couple weeks and i'm wondering if I had missed their call?

Its such a relief to have the interview over with! I think it went well. It was very laid back and the questions were not difficult. My interviewer said that we should be receiving letters in mid-February with information about whether we are accepted, denied, or waitlisted.

holahawaii,

I'm the CNM track, but I got an email invite for an interview and we scheduled a time over email. So if you didn't get an email yet then you most likely didn't miss your interview :)

holahawaii- I have also applied for PMHNP pre-speciality. I received an email to coordinate the interview time and because it went to my spam folder, I received a call (which I missed) and a voicemail. I'm sure you didn't miss your interview. It sounds like some people are still receiving interview invites so stay hopeful!!

So from what I understand, everyone who applies to the specialties that conduct interviews gets an interview? Is that correct? It seems that everyone interviews, so that getting an interview is not any indication as to whether or not one has a greater likelihood of being accepted, as is common with other schools. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!

ASMS, I don't believe they interview everyone who applies to a specialty which conducts interviews. It seems to me like I heard that about half of the applicants get interviewed. However, I could be wrong.

In my interview for midwifery they said they only interview competitive candidates. It could vary by specialty. I am no expert.

i applied for pre-specialty FNP track. does anyone know if this specialty conducted interviews?

I don't think they did, koreanbraves. I'm pre-specialty FNP too and I haven't heard anything, nor have I heard of others who were interviewed in our specialty. Hopefully we'll be hearing something in the next week. I heard letters would start going out late Jan...

ok. yea I heard that too that letter will be sent out starting late january..

I'm also FNP & haven't heard anything either! Fingers crossed that we hear something in the next week. Good luck!
