Vanderbilt MSN 2016

Published

I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.

This waiting game is killer! I keep secretly hoping that they'll just tell us all this week (even though it sounds like Admissions stands by their 'mid-February' timeline). Best of luck everyone!

Specializes in Crna.

anyone else here apply to the ER/ dual fnp/acute care track?

I applied to the AGACNP program the beginning of December and I haven't heard anything! The wait is seriously killing me! I did recieve the invitation to the open house like everyone else. Has anyone else that applied to the AGACNP program heard anything at all? I have an interview for Duke next week so keep your fingers crossed but I really really want to hear from Vandi. Any info is appreciated!

@ColoradoKT and @ergilchrist, I applied for AGACNP by the priority deadline and the only thing I've heard is my application was in the first cohort to be reviewed. Hang in there everyone and good luck to all!

Nope I haven't heard a thing yet for the AGACNP. I don't think they do interviews though.

Are many of you planning on attending the Open House (if you're accepted)? I haven't had a chance to get to one yet (I did visit campus 2 summers ago) and I'm currently planning on making the trip this March! Wasn't sure if it's mainly prospective students or if admitted students will be going as well.

I'm definitely going to go if I am accepted. Probably wouldn't if not just because it'd be rubbing salt on the wound!! Hope we all have the opportunity to meet each other then.

I'll definitely be going to the open house if I get accepted. I have my interview scheduled for today! I'm nervous. Any tips from those of you who have already interviewed? I'm interviewing for midwifery. Thanks!

I haven't interviewed, so I have no tips for you, Emmanade. Just wanted to wish you good luck, though - you've got this!!

Mine was pretty relaxed. Questions like why Vanderbilt, where do you see yourself in 5 years, what's the scope of a CNM, why do you want to be a midwife, and a few questions specific to my application. Nothing tricky. Good luck!

Hey all... I'm applied for the Pre-specialty with CNM/FNP focus. I got an interview invite Thursday and had my interview yesterday (Friday). It was a quick 20 minute phone call and as previously mentioned was questions about scope of practice, why Vanderbilt, personal vision for the future, etc. It's a faculty member from the specialty that called. I very much enjoyed the conversation! Good luck to everyone who is still interviewing! I know there is another round happening on Monday. It's a fantastic program and what an honor to get an interview!

Hi All

This is a fun thread. Glad I'm in good company with the anxiety of waiting!

I applied last November. I'm currently a CPM (non nurse midwife) pursing my CNM. I FINALLY got word about an interview yesterday.

Does anyone know what getting an interview does for your chances of admission? I mean, I read on previous posts that some people are admitted without an interview. But is it common to get an interview and then still be denied admission? Yall probably dont have an answer to this and no one will know till the "fat lady sings" BUT CAN SOMEONE LOOK IN THEIR CRYSTAL BALL AND TELL ME THE FUTURE?! ;)
